State of the game

My fellow azerothians, the current state of the game… is good

I’m pretty happy with DF. Although not the coolest premise for an xpac, certainly not as epic as Legion or WoD, the gameplay and content has been super addicting. I find myself driven to play every day. Has been a long time since I had that feeling.

The game is in a great state IMO, but its more of a fresh start.

Now that we have this new talent tree, we got rid of artifacts and soulbinds, we got rid of clunky endgame borrowed power systems, which have to be rebuilt and redeveloped every expansion. The developers can focus more time on delivering positive changes and new content; And they have been doing it!

Reworks mid-season, a whole new spec! A brand new gearing system. Crests are awesome by the way. Professions totally reinvigorated and made relevant.

The new talent tree allows blizzard to shift class design from borrowed power, into the talent tree. Previously, we had to have artifacts and soulbinds, because the talent tree was only 5 talents.
Looks like they are going to go around the block hitting all the classes with reworks using this new design philosophy. We have seen Ret Pally, Shadow Priest, Mage incoming and Warlock. Not to mention Augmentation Evoker! (which I am a little nervous about admittedly)

I am really excited for the future of WoW for the first time in a long time. After I quit shadowlands, I thought I would never return. Bravo Blizzard.

Don’t listen to all the naysayers on these forums. You guys are really doing good work IMO.

Am I happy about EVERYTHING? No. I am not a fan of the warlock race unlock. I think Demo Warlock was in a good spot, they hit a nerve with the community. Augmentation Evoker keeps me up at night. World Content in Zaralak seems to be weak. Story delivery has been wanting.

But blizzard has fostered some good will with me so I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

What do you all think of the state of wow right now. Gripes or praises?

My biggest gripe in DF has been class design. Other than that and the writing, I’m fairly content with DF. And the writing issues aren’t unique to DF.

What about it? Any specific class? I think the new trees give blizzard a lot more to work with in terms of class design. We have seen specs with multiple viable builds at endgame. Like Lava shaman and Lightning Shaman (not just AoE and ST). The new trees are a new system and it is going to take blizz some time to build up momentum using it.

Excited to see how mage turns out in 10.1.5

I was pretty happy when it launched, even got a 6 month sub, but that fell to pieces with the latest patch and the warlock news. I can’t really put my finger on just one thing, but when I log in I have no interest in doing anything at the moment so cancelled my sub.

Its not as awesome as some are over exaggerating it as … Its Ok but thats on the low low looow side.

Right now they are funneling ppl into m+ still.

The game needs more open ended progression towards end game content and challenge modes which are not part of the gear progression system.

Interesting take.

Some challenge is fun, I loved the mage tower. That is all anyone ever brings up is the mage tower whenever someone mentions solo challenge.

I would like to see more… wonder… I guess?

I use to have these feelings of RP enjoyment during solo play, that are some of the only times I can say I enjoyed the game outside of endgame gear loops.

Chilling in the maelstrom shaman order hall. Or resurrecting’s heroes of old as a death knight.

Hell even questing in the forests of Teldrassil as a level 10 night elf hunter, felt like it was just me and my pet trying to survive.

poop story fun M+ seasons, uninspired raids. it’s whatever. hopefully 11.x is more interesting.

I disagree.

See Caverns for prime example of something being recent and bad.

California

At least it isn’t Florida.
