For context of the tracking I have been doing for the .5 patch.
Pretty done with the game as a whole, they are so out of touch with their game and community. It is quite disturbing how little they know about their own game and community. They do not deserve money for the box, let alone the monthly subscription.
Edit: I am done giving them money, done preordering expansions, done pre-paying for game time. I’m not even going to play an expansion for at least the first month moving forward. I have maintained my game time because it’s a favourite past time between my brother and I, but I no longer get any joy out of playing this game, with or without him in the party. I can no longer justify giving this company money.
I wish I could tell you something pithy like “hang in there, they’ll fix it” but honestly, they are so out of touch that even I’m not sure it can be fixed now. Not just mages, but the game in general. I mean when I log on to my mining character and see they nerfed deftness by 36%, I really don’t understand anything they do anymore.
I agree that it’s very disheartening, but in times like these, we gotta step away from the computer, enjoy the summer a bit, and come back next week hoping for some change. The best way to make a statement is to not play.
I have already cancelled my sub, I’ll check back in later down the road to see if they have bothered to improve things. But there are plenty of other games to play for now, no reason to buy a subscription when player feedback clearly isn’t even read.
I agree, I am never again purchasing any form of sub beyond monthly (if I even still do…). As it stands, I bought a year worth back in December, so I’m stuck wasting my money for the remainder of the year.
That said, they get zero trust moving forward. Literally zero, not perordering expansions, not preordering game time, not even buying crap off their shop. I’m just done giving them money for literal garbage products.
Yeah. I’m done too!! (even though I haven’t played mage in like forever, and I want to support my fellow IRL friend/mage with this post). I agree that things feel rushed and there’s WAY too many changes after content is released and class adjustments, I have zero idea what to play. I think Unholy DK got at least 4 changes now since the expansion came out, like WTF
Yeah I’m out too. Fire mage is tolerable right now, but I hesitate to call it fun. And with the lackluster story and general mid that is the patches since launch I’m probably going to put the game down for the time being. Let the sub drop and come back when there’s something to show.
To everyone leaving. Did you get your 2 seconds of glory? Baaaiiii. Been around since Vanilla. Things change. Game sure did, alot. But the “I’m not paying and leaving!” Never has. Boohoo. This is like 100 people out of the active millions. You do not represent the rest of us playing. It’s not a job for us it’s a game. Remember that next time lol
ESO has been my comfort MMO for years, it’s very easy to get into and much more streamlined than WoW. It was designed with console play in mind from the beginning so there are only 10 skill slots between 2 bars that you can swap between but you can easily play with just 5. It also has a much more horizontal progression system and the difference between the very best items you can get from trials (their version of raids) and items you can craft yourself or buy from the AH is quite negligible. And if you’ve never played it before there is a ton of story content to play through that is pretty good. I’d highly recommend you give it a try.
P.S. The game is currently in the process of receiving a major skill and class refresh with each of the classes and their dedicated skill lines (kind of like specs in WoW) getting VFX updates and general improvements. They’re doing it one or two classes at a time to focus on each individually rather all at the same time but the sorcerer, which is ESO’s version of the mage, is next in line and will be receiving its update in the coming months so it’s a great time to join in. But you can also play any of the classes as the caster archetype too.
Seems fun and engaging, creating neurological pathways for creativeness and critical thinking skills. Need to keep that engagement up when online a lot.
I love horizontal progression systems. People mostly run stuff for the love of the game rather than to gear. Its a huge personality shift from wow. Like people actually chat with me in dungeons. Its wild.
I did a ritual site with the new change. Not having a powerful opening spell doesn’t feel good especially against more powerful enemies. Hunters have Aimed Shot which feels really good to open on a powerful enemy.
