State of Flayed Shot

Yep. Or my preference, #pulltheripcord. The covenants decide your contributions to all of them are exceptional, and grant you the choice of the abilities as an additional special talent tier (or even tiers, with the general abilities there too), at the bottom of the existing talent window. You can hotswap them at will using tomes. Covenants then just become about story and cosmetics and the weekly “chore” thing.

If only they’d have had some warning that this was an issue. You know, if they’d had posts from basically every player in the beta saying it was a train heading towards a cliff. Or, frankly, even a single half-functional brain cell. If only.

I mean, spreading the DoT feels like it would make the ability basically only an AoE ability, unless the proc rate had something odd like Agony’s square root scaling. It would basically make Flayed Shot a super tunnel ability, for turning AoE packs into single target burst. But either the proc rate would be tuned reasonable on ST and be literally nothing but KS spam in AoE, or it would be reasonable in AoE and non-existent in ST.

Making the proced Kill Shots either explode or ricochet seems like the only rational option for adding AoE interaction.

Same for Death Chakram, tbh. Death Chakram currently scales at 15% per hit, multiplicatively, which means the 7th hit is dealing 1.15^6 = 231.3% damage. Total damage done is 1121.68% of the base tooltip damage (which is 27.5%, so 308.462% AP per cast).

Even assuming we’re hitting 7 unique targets, and even assuming the bonus per target hit was 60% instead of 15%, it’d still be doing less than 3x normal damage against those 7 targets (though the last hit alone would be doing ~1.5x as much as the total against a single target).

Honestly, I don’t see a clean way to make it effective in AoE via just tuning the scaling numbers. It needs to actually have a cleave/explosion effect on impact, or leave a hefty bleed per target, or something similar.
