Starting to doubt Loot Council

i agree, if someone is being rewarded with a rare item after winniing 2 decent upgrades its kinda sketchy.

The mystery becomes clearer with more information.

should be a part of LC job description to be transparent
imaybe message me explaining why i won’t get loot for a while. i dont join a guild to gossip around and pry for answers.

Tossing a question to your officers isn’t “prying for answers”, it’s doing your job as a guild member.

Try to understand the people who want the same items as you do, and don’t overwork your officers. Loot Council will magically become clearer and fairer overnight.

i might not agree with the answer though, shrugs

Not wrong at all. Loot council and cliques are cancer.

Right up to the point where the officers suddenly pull the “loot prio” schtick. Strict DKP is great, however it almost always turns into “DKP, but only when we are not favoring a certain player
” Like when the GM wants to try a different tanking setup and he gets fed whatever he wants to dabble in, DKP free.

A transparent LC is the best loot system imo. Things like DKP and EPGP inspire people to horde prio and pass on necessary upgrades and it becomes detrimental to progression

Often I find people just think they deserve the world when in fact there’s 39 others out there and limited loot going around. Their own greed leads them down a dark path

i tried epgp once and since it was a new system a lot of the item values were way overpriced for 100 % drops or w.e. Besides that its a good system probably but then you have people hoarding points for a minor wep upgrade and passing on big armor upgrades. If people can avoid that it can work nicely.

You are probably right and i am solipsistic in a way, but just looking at the raw data it seems a bit off.

Oh please. Stop pretending that the majority of players are in situations where it would matter and content would not get cleared unless treated with the utmost sweatiness.

I must be missing where I said those systems couldn’t clear content

Make more crap up please

I can see where you’re coming from OP, but it’s too hard to say from an outside perspective. I’d ask the LC and see if they can give you a clear answer.

I think I’m going to test out LC for kara

much easier in 10 mans. ppl have a point though maybe i care too much when everyone will get their epics eventually right

If you’re outperforming the others, then maybe they needed the items more and what you already had was better than theirs?

i guess, it can cause players to not try as hard and be mediocre i guess. why does it matter if ur killing stuff tho seems to be the logic for classic

Loot Council supposedly was to be “for the good of the guild”. Most progression raiding guilds did it this way. LC corruption was probably less rampant (but oh it was there), in Vanilla because progression was important to everyone. If you got by passed, well a lot of the time, in my experience it made sense.

But in Classic where this idea of figuring out encounters, still gearing up to pass gear checks, etc is largely non existent, LC imo, unnecessary.

also, i have very similar gear and ilvl still doing better

You should bring your concerns up to your guild (GM, officers). Bringing it up here ultimately won’t solve anything.

I used to run a loot council guild, for 3 years, and we were so careful about keeping things fair. We had 2 raiders sit in and help with decisions every week. We had very little drama. I would have heard about it being the GM but I only heard a complaint one or two times in those 3 years. it helped that I passed on gear myself frequently.

I later joined a (Classic) LC guild with my alliance and I was not concerned. I was only in it for a few months before it fell apart. That guild had a lot of drama about who got what. They ended up gearing up people who left and soon after that’s when the guild fell apart.

So it depends on the people in the council if it’s good or not.

My current guild does this DKP Suicide Kings hybrid thing. You bid if you really want something and x if you don’t want it quite as much and roll for offspec. Of course we do watch it like casters get caster dps gear over healers for example. This works really well and there is next to no drama.

IMO loot council still works better for more hardcore guilds.

You are absolutely correct in all your suspicions. You don’t have to tell us everything. We already know. This is why the opinion that loot councils are the worst type of guild governance is the most common opinion, because it is literally favoritism as a loot system. It is a wonder why anyone misses that.
