Dont forget a few FedEx quests that are available in each of the starter zones. I know it is a pserver, but you can get to level 3 pretty easily just exploring all of Dun Morogh. After that it slows down greatly and i was only level 5 with 4 bars full after exploring all of Telldrassil, Dun Morogh, much of the west side of Loch Modan, death march to Menethil, all of Elwynn and all of westfall and some of Darkshire/Redridge.
Took about 2.5 hours, but that is uncontested leveling and left me with no money and broken gear. So not sure anything past the starting zone for your race is worth it.
Again, this is on a pserver, so take with a large grain of salt.
Its nice that you point out the diminishing returns of exploration leveling. Lvl 4 seems to be enough to grind mobs outside of the starting area and gathering professions should help get some silver. I’ll also be sure to not wear gear while exploring.
Welcome to Classic. According to some people all those people will form groups of 5 and take turns being nice to each other. Oh and also you will become friends forever and speak of the greatness of Classic for decades to come.
The average player is not going to have hundreds of players being spergs for attention on stream.
i think the leveling process was still going much faster than i expected…

That problem will happen no matter what, layering or not.
Best thing you can do is make a group to do a majority of the quests and help each other tag mobs for the drops, or just the kill counts.
To be fair though, this is a MMORPG. Unlike BfA that is mostly a singleplayer waiting room.

Literally how I remember my times back in vanilla leveling up. Running into the same goons every couple of days, grouping for quests. That or helping each other if someone’s getting ganked.
Hell, even one time I grouped with a random druid leveling in EPL. Who funny enough ended up being my guild leader in BC.
Maybe you didn’t play then, if so you missed out on some fun stuff.

All it means is that the game is going to be very popular. That is a win for us and a win for Blizzard. The road to 60 is a long one, you don’t have to make it the first day. Just relax. In a matter of a day or two things will thin out and start moving at a pace you control.
This is not a single player game, what did you expect? Sometimes more people can be an inconvenience.

15+ years of monthly fees and their server tech is apparently worse now than it was back then.
You draw this conclusion, how?
Do you have ANY idea what you are talking about?
I started as soon as the stress test opened up, leveled from 1 - 10 in 2 hours 30 minutes. Quested the whole time, it was tough at times, but very doable. I don’t think 2 hours 30 minutes is bad at all either. Maybe I was on a layer with less people?

Stress test had people who grouped nicely and shared kills for kill quests. Stress test also had people who declined invites to groups to share the quest kills (even for named mobs) and tried to get the tag alone rather than sharing. Given that the stress test characters aren’t going to transfer, there isn’t really a community punishment available for such behavior (until Classic launches). It was a “well, that person isn’t going to make it in Classic”. “Nope, people will hate him and not group with him.” “He declined the group invite.” “Really, he really is going to have problems.” Oh look, there’s the named mob. Thanks for the group guys.
Realistically, the zone chat disruptions from having a streamer’s fans present are a much bigger problem than questing bottlenecks.

Those people are legit the worst. Especially those who respond that they are “just grinding” the quest mobs that people are trying to kill for the quests themselves.

it was bad but not unplayable, options included grouping up with other party members, going to different, less populated starting zones (specifically tauren + night elves), playing during less traffic filled times of the day, or grouping up to kill the higher level mobs outside of the starting area for exp

I’ll admit I was raging pretty hard at some points during the stress test , especially at the echo isles quests , it was quite difficult even as a hunter to tag anything. This is what the stress test is for though to test our stress & pick the right run-out for launch.
There was a bottleneck but it wasn’t terrible. I leveled a priest to 10 in about 4.5 hours played. Went dwarf and did Dun Morough starting area to 5 and then headed to Elwynn. I quested. I found that the gold dust and kobold candles quests were impossible to do at Fargodeep, so I just sat on them until I got to Jasperlode, which wasn’t as heavily farmed, and finished in not too bad a time. I skipped the boss kobold in Fargodeep, but did the other quests. Interestingly, after I hit 10 on the priest I rolled a human rogue, and discovered it was a lot faster to 6, but then without heals, it became much more tedious. Solidified for me that I’m rolling priest in Classic. Oh, and for those that do, get a wand as soon as possible. I found wands to cost 60 silver at AH the first few hours, but by morning on Thursday, price had dropped to 12 silver as more enchanters put them up for sale.
Sorry, my Classic Feels won’t permit that.

Were race changes available in Vanilla? If you can just pick the most unpopular race and switch it later when things ease up a bit.
There goes that idea. Suffer on my friends. Suffer on.
Took me 45 mins to get the first quest done. I loved it though.
