Excellent, love this. Now let’s get those permas out for gold buying and I’ll be happy
A learning disability does not stop anyone from following posted rules. Stop using that as a crutch.
As to the second part- if people know the penalty is irrelevant until the third time then that’s the same thing as saying its allowed, but only twice. People will just buy a larger sum the first two times instead of buying a smaller amount each time they need it. It still does the same amount of damage either way.
Banning gold buyers would result in half the population instantly being gone, that’s not good for Blizzard or us tbh. I’m all for a week suspension or so to let everyone know that it won’t be tolerated anymore though.
should be at least 1 month then so you miss out on raid lockouts. Also delete every item you obtained with the gold. If you already sank it into craftables delete the crafted items. etc
Seems fair enough, although a month might be too long for a lot of people to wait and they might just end up moving on to something else, especially with summer coming up. I’d go with 2 weeks plus the deletion of anything bought.
AFK in prepatch gets a ban for the prepatch duration which is good.
AFK in season 1 should get a ban for season 1.
i can agree with that, them losing USD and the items they basically purchased would be enough punishment. I’d also add if blizz can investigate enough that they delete raid items bought from gdkps by gold buyers. Dont punish the carries or people who buy with their own gold they earned from gdkp, but those who directly bought gold then paid for gear should lose that gear
The problem with banning for gold buying is that Blizzard’s system is all sorts of trash for detecting gold buying. I know several people who were flagged because a player reported them for “gold buying” in a GDKP because they won an item over the reporting player. None of the items were even stupid amounts of gold. An example = Death’s Sting for 3.5k.
I am all for good solutions to gold buying because I do think it has a tendency to cheapen the game by making gold inflation for raiding consumes / rare items in the AH stupidly high. But bans need to come with some actual attempt to provide an appeals system that includes an analyst actually reviewing the data. Blizzard should be in a position to track gold transfers back to sources rather than this blanket “sorry” ban they do right now.
I agree with this, there needs to be actual humans looking at stuff
Was talking about this today with some friends.
We were discussing a system that flags you afk faster and increases the duration of the deserter debuff based off the amount/frequency of afk reports in bgs.
I.e. you’re reported afk by 5 different people in 10/10 bgs, your deserter debuff would go from 15 minutes to 2 hours.
Probably wouldn’t work in practice, sounded like a good idea at the time though!
I was lying when I said I have a learning disability (as far as I know). I said it with callous disregard for those that do. I will do it again when it suits me.
