There is a quest to find a key to free a dragon from a cage, but for the first time I ever remember in playing WoW, we can just pick the lock and effectively skip the quest.
Kudos to the team for realizing the power of the RPG – this made my day.
I also keep trying to pickpocket everything, and go crosseyed when the gnolls in pants have no pockets to pick.
This has been a thing for a while. We cant pick the lock on the orc npc in the wod starting scenario, but all through legion and bfa we could often skip finding keys as quest requirements. Its neat!
Edit: also, got my first lockbox to drop today, that was nice.
And now servers are down for “maintenance”. Thanks a lot guys. 
I believe Legion but I haven’t found one since. Maybe it’s just a Horde thing. Shadowlands definitely littered in unpickable locks.
As a rogue, I should also have the option to just lie to the quest giver and say I picked up the 12 slugs he wanted me to grab.
