(Spoilers) I don't care about a mass murderer's traumatic history, Blizzard

Oh come on. They did that thing the one time with that one cinematic.

They’re too busy smashing :sunglasses:

Well, soul splitting is an obvious new retcon. But it does not really contradict the original concept of soul absorption, since before SL there was no exact information about what happens to the soul further inside the Frostmourne.

As a person who rped as a Wratih who allied with the Forsaken because his romantic partner was now a Dark Ranger I can say

Is 100% true. They are stale as hell characters to play. When I tried to rp them as anything but stale, boring, uninteresting and instead more like two people who’ve suffered traumatic deaths and now trying to reconnect with eachother because they still love eachother. I was treated with REEEEEEEEEE, undead can’t feel emotions plz burn lorebreaker.

no no no no.

You see, the rule is that you are allowed to have emotion if you’re a Death Knight that isn’t a Forsaken.

But by jeebus, if you’re a normal undead, how dare you think yourself allowed to have character depth. Only elves, trolls, orcs, humans, goblins named Gazlowe and dwarves are allowed to have that.

Why do you have to hurt me like this.

The Forsaken not feeling emotions has never been true, though. Literally the most famous thing Sylvanas was known for before “watch your clever tongue” was the highborne lament where she and her fellow banshees literally mourn through song.

Edit because I have more opinions: Hell, most people who are risen into undeath literally go insane and can’t handle it. And that’s the kicker, to be a successful undead you have to have a coping strategy. And the most common of those coping strategies is to shut off your emotions. Doesn’t mean they aren’t there, they definitely are and likely flare up in really violent and passionate ways if you aren’t careful. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s about survival.

I played a banshee who was in possession of a tauren body, and the banshee was a spiteful night elven spirit who attempted to get revenge on the Horde in stonetalon mountain, through way of becoming an accomplished Apothecary under the learning of the Royal Apothecary Society, she had a mean streak, was envious of the living and full of hate. The person they were possessing eventually tried to gain control of her body, the two spirits at war with each other, until it drove them mad and eventually they died, the spirits moving on to the Shadowlands at the same time.

Forsaken got buckets of emotion, yo.

I just want to say thank you for explaining this. I am always hesitant to point a finger of blame at anyone, because honestly I have no idea how ‘story telling’ goes in a video game. I just know what I like and what I don’t like and frankly, I don’t like the story right now and haven’t for quite some time.

Could you say that them reconnecting and remembering their past life and romantic connection as a coping mechanism?

Absolutely! Other people that you trust and can relate to your struggles is one of the healthier ways of dealing with trauma too.

I’d like to ask them where they have seen an undead in real life to know exactly what the undead can feel and what they can’t? Because if they rely on the WoW lore, here the undead’s emotions are just seething!

I remember using a transpor… engineering teleporter manned by Geordie Lapforge to infiltrate Gnomeregan where I would meet Sprok of “The away team” as a member of the Horde.

Tis why I chuckle at “this is medieval fantasy” comments.

Then why are you not on your Forsaken, you filthy breather? Just a spy for the living I suspect.

Victory for Sylvanas!

It’s like people just ignored the actual starships the Legion were using when they continue to insist this setting is 100% medieval fantasy.

the argus skybox has legion ships flying towards azeroth.

remnants of the legion landing on azeroth in survival mode rather than conquest would be cool. maybe its just taking them awhile to get there

I know, right? Glad I wasn’t the only one to notice just how “sci-fi” the entire Legion actually was.

Space is big.

Illidan folded space to make travel to Argus possible but that is done. The wormhole closed.

An expansion of Legion remnants arriving on Azeroth might be cool.

But also they might never get there if they don’t have more than sublight speed. Space is unbelievably huge.

Folding space is also a real concept. So not really stupid.

To this day, I remain baffled how Illidan didn’t just get team killed right then and there.

Like we’d won, and Illidan’s like “Nah.”

How Maiev didn’t immediately remove his head from his body remains a complete mystery.
