Was just wondering out of the blue, how would good ol’ Illidan react to basically BFA at this point, but specifically 8.1.0 if he wasn’t up in the sky stabbing Sargeras for all eternity?
My thoughts are, well Demon Hunters sacrifice everything to defend their home and their people right? At least, that is what Night Elves did/do and they comprised the bulk of Illidan’s forces to my knowledge. So, having had Teldrassil burned to the ground and the Night Elf population basically decimated (not to mention Tyrande going all Night Warrior and Malfurion going berserk) I imagine Illidan would have a few words to say as well.
Basically, the way I thought it would play out would be: 8.1 Darkshore cinematic plays out as usual, but then at the very end before the cinematic cuts out Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” would start playing in the background as Illidan and an army of Night Elf DHs emerge from the woods then just start flying towards the horde camp wrecking everything.
Call my an Illidan fan boy if you want, just nerd thoughts going on for me right now.
Not even Illidan can stand toe to toe with Sylvanas’s plot armor.
And Nathanos would probably wreck him 1v1 because reasons.
Illidan would be against Sylvanas and the Horde only for the fact that Tyrande is pissed now.
Illidan tore out his eyes and went on a 10,000 year hate spree because Sargeras showed him worlds unrelated to Azeroth being conquered, and tried to open a portal to invade Azeroth.
Sylvanas made the one object of his affections sad, and burned the last true city of his people. She also royally angered his Brother, and while he may not like his Brother all that much I don’t think he would take something like that passively.
I’d say Sylvanas would be lucky just to get the X’era treatment from Illidan.

If anything a Sylvanas vs. Illidan fight would be a truly awesome cinematic to watch
It would be pretty short lol, Illidan would destroy Sylvanas.

It would never get to a Sylvanas vs Illidan fight because the first time a demon hunter npc said “I’ve sacrificed everything. What have you given?” to Jaina she would flatten the entire demon hunter class–including “Lord” Illidan.
Demon Hunters chose to leave their respective factions in order to serve Illidan. In Legion we only rejoined the Alliance and Horde for gameplay purposes. I doubt many would want to take part in this war when there are still greater threats to Azeroth such as the Old Gods.
