[Spoilers] Aells 2.0

Since I’m so greedy, I also want to know that the Warsong are no longer in Ashenvale thanks to Gorgonna.

In War Within for some reason Gorgonna and Warsong units arrived with the Horde forces that sailed to Khaz Algar and then just… didn’t do anything there I guess.

Dang, I didn’t make the cut.

Sometimes I like to imagine that the whole “Overgrowth” plotline in the Barrens, combined with some of the Botaani stowaways who made it to this reality along with the Maghar will turn the northern Barrens into a murderous jungle so the Warsong can leave Ashenvale, and head south to setup camp and chop down a monster forest in Horde territory.

This solves the problem of the Orcs remaining in Night Elven territory, and allows the Warsong to remain the vaunted lumberjacks they seemingly got pegged as after Warcraft III.

Supposedly things are regrowing down there, according to the very Orc heritage questline that showed Gorgonna is the new chieftain of the Warsong.

Frankly, I’d prefer it if Sylvanas was a closer parallel to what I want for Vereesa: Have Sylvanas regret nothing, believe her path was justified/she had no choice/what does it matter now anyway, she escapes the Maw or better yet her loyalist Forsaken summon her out of the Maw (which gives her a good reason to be dedicated to them), and the Alliance rabidly wants to execute her for it but circumstances never let them mete out that justice. And, most importantly and also just like I’d want for Vereesa, she never acts as a questgiver (nor is even present in non-combat scenes) for the opposite faction.

(If the devs really don’t want to make content that only one faction sees, frame the other side’s half as a flashback/report - in this case, for example, as Arator relaying what happened when he spoke to the other sister than the one the player interacts with.)

Sylvanas didn’t deserve what the plot of BfA did to her. The night elves didn’t deserve what the plot of BfA did to them. Neither can be resolved/undone in a satisfying way without severe retcons, which leaves only paths that are guaranteed to leave one side or another intentionally snubbed. So lean into that snub, make it a feature of the story. Bring back the OG Sylvanas and don’t make her grovel for forgiveness, and let the Alliance PC be righteously angry about it without forcing them to grovel and help her. But don’t pretend it’s not a snub.

(Ideally, I’d prefer a BfA/SL remix where the Infinites go back and “discover the real events” that happen to undo all of these unsolvable corners the story painted itself into.)

Blizzard using the Legion remix to have the Infinites mess with what happened is such an overt nod to players wishing the Bronzes would just “No, that didn’t happen.” everything away from BFA.

They know, they’re just teasing us.

ultimately, as has been said before they cannot please everyone, This questline has made the forsaken fanbase happier than i have seen them in a long time and if that ultimately has to come at the cost of the nelf fanbase then so be it, that’s how its gotta be.

I’d personally prefer something less nakedly partisan. I’d like to believe that Blizzard was capable.

yeah cause you just see her and are happy, like the quest clearly shows she cares about her job, enough where she scolds the player, enough where she doesnt want to leave, her actions to me show that she does show regret, her words dont make sense.

so she doesnt regret that the jailer tricked her? like we arent even gonna do that?

would it be great if they could make everyone happy that would be amazing, i just don’t think blizzard knows how to do that.

I’m going to hold your hand when I tell you this: there is no way to do that

It is a narrative impossibility and Blizzard knows it

Unless they wholesale retcon all of BFA/Shadowlands/Dragonflight somehow

Not my hill to die on but, I don’t think you all are in the same boat. Sylvanas’ transgressions have been put on front street and she’s currently working to right her wrongs. You’re agitated that she doesn’t regret committing her crimes. There were entire storylines and cinematics that clearly showed her remorse. Are we to believe that she feels remorse, but doesn’t regret the harm she caused? At this point I have way more questions than I do answers. Is she schizophrenic because of the merge? sighhhhh

Your biggest gripe are meme threads that are meant to gaslight?

The soul split concept was always there(its not new) but the how was never explained. Every undead in the game has had their soul manipulated via necromancy, save the 1% who are exactly the same in undeath.

Edit: Many moons ago cdev told us that the souls of the undead are partially attached to their corpse. We were told that Arthas performed rituals to further twist Sylvanas’s soul(whatever was left of it after it split).

I remind you that Cdev was Afrasiabi, Metzen, and Kosak pull things out of thin air on the spot

There is no “lore bible”

I include the disclaimer that I hate basically everything to do with Shadowlands, but Sylvanas’ actions did bring about a change where the Arbiter now gives inbound souls a voice re: their afterlife. Which was her entire (stupid, idiotic) motive for everything she did.

the problem is if she just didnt do the genocide and just went to the lick king and did all that, we’d have the same xpac

edit I hate shadowlands too, I think no matter what happens, its bad, but i think blizzard can just write in a way that doesnt excuse genocide

Sylvanas and the Horde Army reach the shore, facing Teldrassil.

The Infinites intervene, drop magical storm of whatever onto the Horde, destroying all the catapults. Sylvanas retreats, cursing the Night Elves for calling upon their dragon allies as she, Nathanos and Saurfang flee back out of Darkshore.

The Night Elves recover Darkshore, and the war resumes as normal.

The Alliance and Horde are at war… and N’zoth fans the flames.

Eventually Sylvanas peaces out to go to Northrend, leaving Saurfang in charge, and Nathanos goes to sulk with the Forsaken.

Chromie high-fives Murazond.

No, I don’t care about Forsaken players.

Oh, wait, I take that back.

I like some Forsaken players.

No it doesn’t, cause it has a literal back door to the capital of the entire horde.

“just trust the nelves bro”

“just trust the alliance bruh”

“just do it, bruh”

I don’t care if the alliance was literally blameless. It’d be incredibly stupid for anyone in the story to consider that Orgrimmar is best left undefended. “nah, it’ll be fine.”

Just fold the deforested strip of Ashenvale into Azshara. If that area hasn’t been clear cut by now, the Warsong are nowhere near as competent or feverishly devoted to lumbering as they have been made out to be.

The Forsaken couldn’t even prevent the Night Elves (well, Malfurion specifically any way) from regrowing the forest with blight. What hope do you think the Warsong with their ramshackle shredders ever actually had at deforesting anything?
