Spoiler: The fate of Zul'jan

https://x.com/Queen_Ishura/status/2067831178837856297

So it appears that after the raid, Zul’jan will die, what a surprise.
It’s not like with the current writing coming from Blizzard, we hadn’t predicted it a year ago…
And again since the begining of TWW, when an interesting male character appears, he has to be killed one way or another.

This character was the most interesting of Midnight, rather popular and deserved far better than just being killed.
The players begged you to NOT kill him since day one and not go the corruption road but you did it nonetheless.

I don’t know who wrote these stories, but in Midnight it’s garbage tier : Blood elves, Sunwell and now an interesting character with a lot of potential - the only one in Midnight - turned into a villain and killed.

Most players i encoutered wanted him to live.
It is not a smart move to continu to anger your playerbase after the “Dawnwell” and the treatments of the Blood elves.

apparently the same people who’ve been cheering on for Turalyon to die are now upset Zul ”I’m the most clearly evil racist Troll since my grandfather” jan is on the chopping block because they all kept saying stuff like “don’t villanbat him” while again, cheering on other characters deaths

If you look at how they write this game it was obvious that something bad was gonna go down.

He was doomed the second he wasn’t aboard the unity and friendship train.

What fate, besides death, is expected for a character like Zul’jan?

Which kind of people?

That has being the case since BFA, not TWW

Blizzard over-correcting their “too male brand”, like its not a problem in so many media out there

But when you mention that blizz has gone Wrong you are the one at fault.

who the hell “cheered” for him to die? you barely find people who care about it.

If this is really true, then it is simply wasted potential. Zul’jan is far more interesting to me than his sister precisely because he has real edges. He is proud, angry, dangerous and not another character who wants peace with everyone after two conversations and a hug. Warcraft has been missing characters like this for years.

The problem is not that kind characters exist. The problem is that almost everyone is now written from the same template. Reasonable, gentle, understanding and always ending with the same message about friendship and reconciliation. A story also needs conflict and characters who are allowed to be difficult, commanding and morally imperfect.

Let Zul’jan make mistakes, lose and face consequences. Just do not turn him into a villain and kill him so his sister can grow from it. We need genuinely badass characters who stay memorable instead of being softened or thrown away after a few quests…

Who?, guess you don’t use social media much, people have been saying Turalyon was going to turn evil and we are going to get to kill him in a raid since Midnight started, a lot of those same people which is why I mentioned them are now complaining that Zul’Jan is now a raidboss

Social media doesnt matter, and you might just be confusing, saying he will turn evil is different from cheering him turning evil, there is dumb people everywhere

Same way we knew from the start zul’jan was going to die, both are male characters and male character either get soft or die

Like peoply have been saying/predicitng he will be evil since like the moment he and his sister got revealed since blizz story telling is THAT predictable

He’s a very safe kill. 99% of players can’t remember he even exists.

Sounds about right

Twitter users don’t read the lore they watch poorly made youtube lore summaries about it while getting high on their own farts.

Zul’Jan is hardly an interesting character but you decided to headcanon out every villainous trait of the character despite it being painfully obvious because the average twitter user seems to think that Zul’Jan killing every non-Amani man, woman, and child in the northern eastern kingdom is a virtuous goal. News flash, it isn’t.

Hypocrisy is an important trait of villains and reveals their true motives. He can he say his sister is a good leader, but undermines her authority at every opportunity. He can say he cares about his people, but treats them as disposable. He can say he wants glory for his people, but is only concerned about killing his “enemies.”

This isn’t an “interesting deep morally grey anti-hero” like you desperately want to portray him as. It’s a blatantly villainous monster who is blind to the suffering his causes his own people because he thinks the ends justify the means. And the ends in this case is a genocide so massive it’d make Garrosh look like a joke.

You and every other obnoxious WoW twitter user rejected reality in favor of headcanon and now you’re mad your headcanon isn’t real. Sad!

sure the alliance night elf knows what an interesting character is.

Let me guess, another elf character?

you people are so boring

→ talks crap about headcanon
→ invent his own headcanon

Btw, they give a free pass and left the naz! trollbane woman live, why they cant do it again?

Zul’jan was only ever one massive walking death flag ever since he was like “These were troll lands” and his sister shows up and girlbosses up the place and becomes the Amani Chosen One (Sorry, “Hash’ey”) for every Loa.

I put his odds at learning lessons, surviving, and shifting his attitude to not be at odds with a playable races/factions (belves) at like, 5% (i.e. a natural 20 on a d20). So he didn’t beat those odds.

If they genuinely wanted to surprise us, they’d have Zul’jarra somehow sacrifice herself to stop the bad guys and Zul’jan take up the mantle, trying to emulate his sister’s attitudes in working with outsiders-- but they wrote a short story for her. They have her paired with the player character and Liadrin. There was about a snowball’s chance in Hell that they were going to kill her off for a male character who idolizes another warmongering male character. But then people would be upset by that, too.

Just quoting this because this is the absolute truth.

Each time they accidentally stumble into an interesting character they put them on the chopping block in lieu of the cookie-cutter.
