Spoiler for the end cutscene of March of Quel'denas

So Sylvanas just appearing in the sunwell chamber implies that ANY creature of the shadowlands can leave at any point.

Sooooo playable Kyrian, Maldraxxi, Venthyr and Sylvar when?

After Pygmy Ogres and High Dwarves.

We’ll get High Dwarves once we get Tall Dwarves, Oiled Up Dwarves, Gym Bro Dwarves and Protein Shake Dwarves

Getting added as customization options to regular Dwarves.

Getting added as extra customization to Earthen.

Getting added as expanded customization to Dark Iron Dwarves.

Getting added to High Dwarves as expanded customization once you complete the, “Farmer’s Market,” zone main storyline.

I mean, I’m pretty sure we always knew they could? Hell, leaving the Shadowlands is part of Kyrians’ and Maldraxxi’s purpose.

Maldraxxi would be too close to forsaken tbh.

Uh oh, stinky.

Unless Sylvanas’s statement “it takes a toll” is a throw-away line (which I doubt it is), my guess is that in order to have opened the portal required something of sacrifice. Maybe souls from the maw? Maybe a part of herself? etc… I mean, she is THE maw walker, and based on some of the visual cues in the cutscene, it appears she still has access to the death magic (which is presumably why Xal didn’t want to stick around since The Void is utterly terrified of death and Sylv specifically)

Why would the Maw be able to hold her at all? She’s not dead.

I thought she was there voluntarily. Isn’t that the point? It’s not really penance if you’re doing it against your will.

Her line was probably Blizzard wanting her to still sound cool and mysterious. I don’t think it requires much TO breach the veil.

Brokers have done it, We see denizens of the shadowlands as defenders in the stormarion, we’ve seen kyrian and night fae revelers in the anniversary event.

And lore entries in certain mounts, e.g the Zereth Mortis Jellyfish from the Trading Post, tell that people can smuggle stuff from the shadowlands into the mortal realms without issue!

Well sylvanas never died in shadowlands so unsure if that’s true. Though we did see maldraxas invade argus before so they’ve already been doing it.

Shes a maw walker

Plenty of creatures leave the Shadowlands all the time:

  • Agents of Maldraxxus, especially the House of Eyes, went on operations on Legion-held worlds.
  • Lady Moonberry and several Ardenweald denizens went to the Emerald Dream to help against Fyrakk.
  • The Brokers brought themselves and the entirety of Tazavesh to K’aresh, and a couple Venthyr and Dredgers also tagged along.
  • There are Kyrian and Maldraxxi mercenaries you can call upon as defenders in Stormarion.

It seems to me that the only big deal about moving between the Shadowlands and the mortal world is if you’re a dead former denizen of that mortal world, i.e. the Ysera situation. But then again, Draka being able to leave for Legion worlds as a Maldraxxi puts even that into question.

The Ysera thing is because she gave up her chance to be reborn and tied herself eternally to Ardenweald. She’s a special case.

how TF do people not see ve’nari was the one who made sylvanas come back. Think about it. Who has a portal to the maw, hates xalatath more than anything for what she did to her people, has a habit of getting things done and convincing people to do her chores, knows what the void fears, literally saying as much (assuming it’s something undeath related ie sylv), has no time for someone’s petty emotions, and says they owe us one? It’s so obvious. Not sylv coming back out of the goodness of her heart but their golas, at the moment, line up with each others’

of course I could be wrong and it could be more cringey fanfic writing though

They’re not shadowlands natives though, they can freely come in and out of there whenever they want.

I wouldn’t say “any” creature. Though I would agree that if Blizzard wanted to make any of the cited races playable, though would find away. I just think they would have done already it if they were going to.

Basically a teaser for an upcoming plot line. A little contrived. “Sylvanas can leave the Maw, but only if it convenient for Blizzard marketing”.

(I’m thinking of Roger Rabbit. “You mean you could escape anytime? No, only if it was funny”)
