The 3 new affixes in season 2 also seem to fall into the “punish if mess up but don’t add effective health if done right” as well.
He’s absolutely right though on the impact the different affixes have at different key levels, especially bolstering and sanguine which aren’t a big deal for most players and absolutely devastating at the high end for the effective health they can add.
