I really don’t understand / mostly disagree with people complaining about melee tactics
As far as i see in m+ last expansions all melee had to do was dps, interrupt,stun and orbs in some weeks. Most melee just does dps. No interrupt or lowest number of interrupts. No melee specific tactics (only skittish, and spread at quaking)
So my point is " You can stop dps for a while" and do some required kiting or mechanics.
I am against the slogan of " melee punishing" affixes.
I am a healer and everything punishes me if you get hit or if you die!!!
The only punishment you get when you do tactics correctly is losing dps.
So complain like “i want my dps looks higher in meters” instead of "melee punishing affix "
a side note : I played some keys with my alt rogue. When mobs started to die in a pack , I always looked for fixated eyes on my character ,if i see fixate i started kiting. If don’t fixate on me and see spiteful adds i started slowing or stunning them. I rarely got hit or let others hit by spiteful adds.
I checked interrupts at the end of dungeon:
My rogue interrupts 26
Tank interrupt 19
Ranged dps interrupt 12
Healer interrupt (shaman) 9
melee dps interrupt 5
So do you see my point?
This melee dps had highest dps. while i was using my combo points to stun spiteful adds (kidney shot) and switching targets to interrupt an important ability, this guy was pumping dps without doing tactics/mechanics.
Tanks pulling multi packs are a problem this week aswell. you get 3-4 spiteful adds in the middle of big elites.
Spiteful and Whirlwind are basically anti-melee affixes. Volcanic is annoying for ranged, but it’s not even on the same level of annoyance as these other two. HoA is an anti-melee dungeon too because a lot of the adds like to randomly attack melee even if the tank has threat.
Most of the affixes below are before SL. They are mostly punishing healer to try hard if anyone makes mistake. I don’t agree with the argument " melee is not wanted in m+" . Because every dungeon there are lots of adds that must be interrupted. In soa there are 2 goliath adds. IF they finish “fist” cast at same time you probably die. So every dungeon there must always be a melee if leader knows what he/she is doing.
Volcanic : mostly punishes ranged, not melee
Quaking: punishes casters ,because you have to stop casting(ranged), not melee if they spread good
Skittish : mostly punishes melee, ranged will be punished less.
Explosive: easier to be dealt by melee, i was getting in melee range (to target orbs better) when i was playing ranged in legion and bfa. ;
Necrotic: mostly punishes tank, but also healer.
Bolstering: punishes tank and healer most cases
Raging: punishes mostly tank and healer except unavoidable damaging elites or taunt immune little mobs.
Sanguine: punishing melee if they stand still in same spot or tank is bad with moving adds.
Teeming: averall no real difference.
Grievous : punishes healer
I’m not sure I follow. Spiteful doesn’t penalize stacking melee specifically; you only have to run away from your own shades. They just penalize melee, in any amount. And they penalize melee by… forced movement, the mechanic which you say is only relevant to ranged.
