Spires of Ascension FPS drop post 9.0.5

You had a Windows update during this time, correct? There have been several over the last few weeks.

Yeah, I think i’ve had 2 windows updates in the last few weeks

Perhaps something on your system is not working properly with the Windows updates. This is incredibly common with peripheral software that isn’t kept (manually) updated either by the user or the company who makes it. You could try:

  • Rolling back the updates.
  • Checking the Windows Reliability History for errors.
  • Checking Windows Event Viewer > system logs for errors.

Any updates on this? Its been two weeks of constant FPS drops that never existed prior to 9.0.5.

Still experiencing the issues after todays hotfixes, also checked my windows updates and the last one I got was a few days before 9.0.5 and I didn’t experience the framerate drops until 9.0.5 came out.

Ran Spires tonight but still did not encounter this bug. Did anyone try my suggestions?

What suggestions are you speaking of? To roll back drivers and or updates? Yes. I’ve done everything short of reformatting.

Having the same issue and running on a mac book

Still nothing, no support or changes from Blizz. This is an issue and it isn’t resolved, not sure what else to do at this point. Go buy a new computer is not an acceptable answer from Blizz.

For some unknown reason my FPS drops considerably upon entering that dungeon and for the entirety of the run. To the point where I am a detriment to my group. Mind you, in no other zone except maybe Orbios do I get this type of FPS drop. I have tried disabling settings/addons I even tried using an inky black potion to see if the dark sky would help. It’s very disheartening any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have this issue but specifically at the first boss - that’s where it’s the worst. It’s good to know that it’s not just me (and the few people in my guild who have also complained).

There are multiple threads on this same topic, no answer from Bilzzard.

They got a response on the EU forums saying that they are at least investigating it, hopefully means whatever is causing the issues can be resolved soon.

Yeah Ive tried all of that. This is a blizzard issue and needs to be addressed. The constant T1 helpdesk responses is just lazy.

I don’t work at Blizzard, but I can tell you that developers rarely respond to troubleshooting posts, so I’m not sure what you were expecting. The forum system isn’t a guaranteed point of contact with the staff anyway, only the ticket system is.

It’s also not an incredibly widespread issue. They’re still taking the concern seriously enough to test it in game and also collect system info to track down the problem. Unfortunately, very few of the DxDiags they asked for have been added, which will inevitably slow down the troubleshooting process.

Hey again,

Thanks for following up! Since the issue has persisted beyond the recommended troubleshooting we may need you to submit a ticket so we can get a little more in-depth on the topic. Please provide a link to this thread in the submission so they know what we went over already.

It may not be an incredibly widespread issue, but its widespread enough that there are multiple reports on these forums and over the EU ones.

Clearly something changed with 9.0.5 and its causing problems for a bunch of people that didn’t suffer with them before the patch, myself included.

I’ve tried all suggestions on this post and many others, to no avail. At this point I’m just looking for way to fix this issue and have the same performance I used to have before the patch.

Around this same point in time there were also two Windows updates and multiple GPU driver updates. So it’s not as simple as blaming a change in the game when there are thousands (millions?) of others not experiencing it.

You right, it is possible that 9.0.5 didn’t change anything, but I’m having zero issues with other games or programs (along with a lot of people that have been putting in reports about 9.0.5 performance), that’s why I ruled out these other factors.

Also, none of the suggested “uninstalling updates” or “drivers rollback” fixes worked, that’s why I highly suspect of 9.0.5.

Anyway, whatever the source of these problems are, I just hope it gets fixed soon.
