Spinning crane kick animation is dumb

Just my opinion, but that skill completely breaks all immersion for me as a monk. All other skills are cool, and feel like martial arts (albeit, a bit cartoony, but still martial arts).

SCK though… it’s literally a camel spin / ballerina spin.

No offense against skaters or dancers… but that spin would never do any dmg.

Could we please change it to a real spinning kick, like this:

The class is monk, not dancer.

I thought the same thing and was the reason I hadn’t played monk from mop to shadowlands. After playing it for awhile on beta it started to grow on me tbh.

I do wish the kicking leg was turned 45 degrees so it would make more sense, but spinning nevertheless went from my reason to avoid monk at all cost to wanting to main it forever.

Would be cool though if SCK was like the single tornado kick you linked, but then followed by the green spinny circle as an aura instead of the channel. Gameplay would be identical, but the animation would be nice.

Exactly. I used to do martial arts up to college and it really pulls me out of the game seeing SCK, especially knowing it could be done so much better.

The animators just stretched the model in a T position and made it spin… minimal effort.

BTW, you can also do two spins instead of one, if the kick duration wasn’t long enough. It is still a realistic kick, even spining twice. Or, you can do a 360 kick into hook kick for a double spin. Or, a 540 spin kick (this is just a full spin before doing a hook).

Or heck, just look at Tekken, MK or other fighting games… or even D3 for inspiration. the D3 monk is definitelly more martial artsy than the WoW monk.

Many realistic options for a great and cool looking SCK… the ballerina spin is just the easiest in terms of animation. They went for the low effort route, and while it was fine 10 years ago, it’s now really bad.

FoF is horrible garbage too, I just find it a little less jarrying because we see it from behind the character.

Old FOF was nice.

MOP WW abilities were just clean.

I liked when we would shoot flowers to root people to the ground as WW

TBH, I’d much rather shoot a magic flower than spin like that to “hit” someone.

Really missed the opportunity to just shoot a magic fist
