Spellcasting and movement

The way they stripped away Kil’jaedens Cunning seem like a heavy blow when it was removed.

Already lost me.

Same here.

That view point comes from the same people that thought covenant restrictions were a good thing at the start of SL.

How it feels TO YOU. I like the way my Fury Warrior plays. I suck with him, but I like the way he plays. Completely (utterly) different from my Warlock.

Like I said, I don’t know if there is a “high movement caster” in the game. There should be, but that doesn’t mean it should be universal to all casters.

Cast times are often seen as a good trade off for range.

Melee have complete freedom of movement, but if they get out of range on the boss, they stop doing damage.

I switched from hpal, my main, to resto sham for a bit. Yikes. Having cast times and being interrupted by movement is so inferior it is hard to overstate how advantageous that really is

Knowing encounters well enough to plan your casts (or at least cooldowns) so movement is minimally damaging to your rotation is part of playing a caster. Additionally, melee tend to become increasingly obsolete when you take away the one disadvantage ranged have over them (being shut down more by heavy movement).

I loved MoP and all too, but it wasn’t a good balance between the roles.

Meanwhile…Hunters’ one shield takes us out of combat… also it doesn’t prevent AOE ground damage either… so we’re basically screwed with bosses like Denathrius.

“High movement RANGED” - Beast Master.

Attacks from ranged, never has to worry about standing still.

Casting is the main reason I play casters. If I wanted to melee at range I’d play a hunter.

Also, while this can be done with macros, its still usefull to interrupt your own spell cast. Ex: bait interrupt in pvp or prevent yourself to be silenced by quaking in m+. I’d rather we keep casters the way they are…

Edit, typo

So you’d be ok with a massive nerf to be able to move? Careful, blizz’s tuning has been pretty rough.

I distinctly remember being able to channel Tranquility while moving during the Legion expansion. If that sounds OP, yes, it was.

I say make the stand still long cast abilities able to be done while moving but give them a say 5% buff if done while stationary .

If I can have more fun while playing? Absolutely.

Case and point: how I’ve mentioned how Survival hunter was at start of Shadowlands. I still played it instead of BM/MM because it was FUN.

To people saying ‘if melee gets out of range’: That could be an issue…if melee didn’t have bajilions of distance closers. Harpoon for Surv, Charge and Leap for Warrior, rolls/tornado on Monk, Hooks and Spring on rogues, etc

Far from OP. Useful, Enjoyable - yes.

But OVER POWERED - no.

There really aren’t any true mechanics that stop you from doing a massive channel or burst rotation as a caster. If you time and position correctly you’re always good to go. It’s frustrating having to cancel something when you mess up, but there’s always down periods and windows to pew pew or heal. Range has the benefit of attacking from far away, but there’s a balance cost in movement reduction.

Yet hunters don’t have this restriction.

Balance druids don’t really have it, and shamans don’t either for a window every 1.5 minutes or so.

This also goes beyond just ‘raid content’ like every one seems to think. It includes; dungeons and just world content too.

Warlock and mage in particular always broken. Please don’t act like they are victims of non-mobility.

Priest, Resto Druid, and Mistweaver all suffer from the same problem of ‘stand still or don’t do things’

Not really. You can do a lot while on the move, especially Restro Druid LOL. Optimal healing output for me is being a stationary turret, but there’s no reason I can’t dodge, dip, dive, and duck while I pump. Plenty of room to move as a Priest, and even more w/ the other classes you mentioned.
