As part of the new information datamined from Alpha Test for Midnight, there is a recent wowhead post showing models of major lore NPCs.
Among those there are many Amani Loas which include: Bear Loa, Lynx Loa, Dragonhawnk Loa and some others.
I just find it interesting that those Loas are some of the animals with deep ties to Blood Elves.
Speculation Part:
What if, after thousands of years of War, Blood Elves and Amani finally made peace and through those Loas, Thalassians get a conection for Druidsm?
Those Loas are the animals players usually suggest as druid forms for Blood Elves; Lynx for Cat Form, Dragonhawk for Flying Form, etc.
Would this be the beginning of lore justification for Blood Elf Druids?
If the Blood Elves wanted druids, it be as simple as asking the Tauren to teach them druidism.
âŠso I do not think its a lack of means, it is a cultural disconnect with the sort of mindset that produces druids. Sinâdorei shape the natural world to their whim, it serves themâThey do not serve it.
Funny how easy that is to fix.
Only if you believe that cultures are pillars and all are bound to them unable to be anything except what their people approve of.
To be clear, Iâm firmly in the camp of; I donât care if their parents wouldnât have ever been a shaman or druid, thereâs no good reason any individual couldnât choose to walk that path.
Itâs hard to know. Blizz did seem to be doing the all races can play any class up until the ones that require extra assets. They could be working on that slowly, or it could be nothing.
We know by now Blizzard loves convoluted lore so something as simple as: âHey! Mr. Tauren! Could you teach me how to turn into a cat?â, is not their MO.
I just find it curious that those Loas are the exact same animal suggestion people have made over the years for their druid forms.
I think theyâre coming. That âkill High Botanist Freywinnâ quest in the presentationâs slides on void elf DHs struck me as cheekily foreshadowing the parity.
Also, the Farstriders get some nature focus in Eversongâs zone stories, with the appearance of wild gods strange nature spirits in response to the rangers healing the land. And as you say, these specific loa are thematically perfect representations of their potential druid formsâŠ
The Sindorei working with the Amani to cleanse Quelthalas and learning Druidism from them would be great. Much better than if they learned from the Tauren or Night Elves.
It would keep them tied to their homeland and their native loa. Also tie them to their ancient troll heritage. While still keeping them with their own style different from the Elves who exiled them.
Sounds great. Sign me up.
They can still learn from other Druid Races. Experience should be used to your advantage but at least they can say they became Druids on their own which would be neat for them, wouldnât break any established lore.
Farstriders would be the best choice to follow that path.
based
I think the tit-for-tat druidism that Trolls have is more aligned with Belf ideologies
Especially if itâs a sub-group of Farstriders who already love the animals they care for; to be blessed by the God of Lynxes would be cool to Halduron Iâd wager
His new outfit is indeed very greenâŠ
The restoration of what used to be the Ghostlands and the Scarred Path does make a logical entry for Sindorei Druids.
Actually they could have been jusified as far back as the Burning Crusade and Legion.
Iâm genuinely surprised, I thought you of all people would be the one who was going to be the utmost adamantly against all of it ![]()
Those Loas are the animals players usually suggest as druid forms for Blood Elves; Lynx for Cat Form, Dragonhawk for Flying Form, etc.
If trolls get a âtoggleâ â option for the Amani models in the barber shop, itâd be cool to see selecting such, thus grant them those forms as their base druid models too. ![]()
Would this be the beginning of lore justification for Blood Elf Druids?
Ideally, you could argue this as one of the key-pillars towards the Amani and the Thalassians having formed a treaty over the years â Through the gods & loa of both QuelâThalas and the Amani Forests, followed by the leadership of QuelâThalas also wanting peace, combined with Talanji seeking such on behalf of the Amani too - To tie it altogether.
⊠Sadly however, Iâm sure the reality of their peace is far more lazy than that, lol
But hey, maybe weâll be surprised with later lore-reveals yet to come or be written ![]()
âŠso I do not think its a lack of means, it is a cultural disconnect with the sort of mindset that produces druids. Sinâdorei shape the natural world to their whim, it serves themâThey do not serve it.
Letâs remove night elf Warlock then.
Also mages⊠and probably traditional warriors as well, just doesnât feel like a proper sentinel.
Oh⊠we should totally reduce the classes races can be down to only those that speak to their stereotypical cultural beats so everyone can just go, âoh Iâll be the mage race!â then boom! No thinking no questioning⊠itâs just a world of hats.
Of course these days I find arguments that boil down to âThe LORE! Wonât someone think of the LORE?â to be so tiring and Iâm just done with it.
I used to try to come up with good in lore arguments for why a class exists, or at least could, and isnât widely known, but the other side just screams it down, so done. Why play nice with people who just scream in your face how wrong you are for wanting something they donât?
Donât like LFD Warlocks⊠donât make one.
Donât like Blood Elf Druids or Shaman⊠shock⊠donât make one.
I know itâs hard to imagine but not all choices in the game are for just those who like everything. Iâll never make a priest and Iâll never make another paladin beyond the one I have an RP for and if paladin vanished tomorrow I wouldnât miss it. Iâm not going to tell someone they canât play those classes, so why should I tell them what race they are allowed to be when they play those classes? What is everyone so bloody afraid of? Because this level of push back feels like the kind of hate Iâm all too familiar with in America the kind born of fear.
Maaaaan I was expecting something hotter than this.
Why not Thalassian LIGHT Druids? Flight form being like the shiny gold light dragonhawk on the midnight pre-order.
The mere thought of seeing Blood elves druids disgusts me but I would welcome them through their Farstriders connecting to the Emerald Dream via Wild Gods, but to have The Light corrupt my beloved sacred Nature Class would be a low blow.
And Iâve said plenty of time that The Light has taken so much of Blood Elvesâ spotlight at the expense of their Mages and Farstriders.
Wasnt there some sort of Botanist Boss in Tempest Keep?
Also, it wouldnt be such a far throw for Blood Elves to adopt Druidism, especially with the Lightbloom and what not. They could see it as a necessary step to contain the damage the Sunwell has caused. Could just call them âWardensâ as their racial equivalent.
We do need more focus on the Arcane and Mundane aspects of Thalassian culture, however. Blood Elf connection to the light is currently the be all end all of their schitck now to the point it makes Human culture seem secular.
Justice for Farstriders!
So iâm pretty sure blood elf druids were planned but got scrapped last minute in BC. I think thatâs also why why the amani had dragonhawk loas.
I would like to see them though because the lore supports them and i think itâs a good class combo for the race.
If the Blood Elves wanted druids, it be as simple as asking the Tauren to teach them druidism.
This should be a whole narrative point of âtheyâre too proud to embrace nature in an equal capacity.â Same reason why, back in Vanilla, Zandalari said they didnât possess Druidism, because they do not view themselves as equals to nature, they view themselves as itâs superior.
Thalassian druids, as a narrative concept, should reflect that cultural mentality and that their relationship to nature is binding it to their service, not mutual harmony like druidism kind of entails (harmony not as in nothing kills each other, mind you, before people misunderstand that).
Wasnt there some sort of Botanist Boss in Tempest Keep?
The dungeon entry for the Satyr boss implies they actually get all the magic they use by having Satyr manipulate and steal life essence from the plants for them. So arguably something closer to how belves used Mâuru, except they werent extracting the energy themselves. Explicitly, by sacrificing living creatures. In a controlled environment as well, which is notable cause wild nature isnât like a greenhouse, and even the titans seemingly cant fully order nature since even modern lore acknowledges the dream doesnât even possess order concepts like Time.
The botanist in Arcatraz works as a starting point, not as full on druids on itâs own, cause they got it from demons.
