Spark of Ingenuity, is for what?

Back from being away for awhile and my main has got now 5 Sparks. No clue what to do with them.

I have read WoWhead and Icy Veins NUMEROUS times but I still have no idea how to use them to get better gear or items or whatever the heck they are for. Is there anything out there that explains them to someone like me that understands ZERO about this expansion yet?

Like a super basic linear guide?

Sparks are used for max level crafting items. You can use them with your own professions or with the crafting system to request someone else to make an item for you.
