So....why the level squish, anyway?

Welp then I stand corrected.

Either way, It’s better to introduce stats early when you have fewer abilities.

And It’s WAY better to give people something new every single level.

I hope they keep the Level cap at 60. Squish every expansion back down to fifty, and keep the theme of “Pick an expansion, and level to 50”

You don’t HAVE to

True, if you want your player base to get really bored with the process then sure.

If you don’t it makes leveling boring, 100-120 is the most boring period of leveling this game has ever had.

I never considered myself boned because I didn’t get something at a level. I level so quickly that getting something every level is irrelevant

But that’s the other side of the coin, you’re leveling through those levels so quickly that they don’t really matter.

Also that may be fine for now to go 20+ levels with nothing new, but what about 30? 50? How far do we just space things out. People will get bored. Heck, people are bored now.

Did hitting 120 really feel rewarding, OP? Felt weaker than 110 on my end… When it comes down to it, it’s all just numbers…and none serve a purpose if you’re not actually getting stronger.

I don’t find leveling to be an accomplishment in MMOs, I find it to be a chore.

See, I suppose that it really does come down to personal choice. I think leveling is my favorite part.

Leveling only mattered to me when I first started, because I didn’t know anything. Now it won’t matter no matter what change Blizz makes.

I get it, everyone has their own opinion. Good news for me is that with the leveling speed increase you guys have caused I can go from my current 57 120s to 100+ in much less time

I wouldn’t call it a chore, chore (to me) implies you don’t like it. I would call it a formality lol.

I had more fun leveling prior to level scaling because I could get gear and blow mobs up  now mobs are always near me in strength so they always feel the same to fight from 1-120 when I get gear and can once again blow them up lol.

True, I think that’s why I’m looking forward to the crunch a bit more. I like the scaling. It means I can skip the zones I don’t care for, but since the mobs level with you it loses that powerhouse feel.

I’m hoping that the crunch will make each level more of a stepping stone. More of a reward, rather than a count down timer to the next xpac/endgame. If that makes sense.

I’m not sure if you’re going to be pleased with SL lol There’s a guy on SL alpha that did 10-50 (today’s 20-120) with no looms in 12 hours. Blizz said leveling speed might be a little fast in alpha at the moment but even if they double the time it takes it would still be much faster than today. They mentioned someone doing it in 7 hours but I haven’t seen anyone doing that.
If the speeds are accurate then leveling will have less of a point in SL than it does now. Though 12 hours just gets you to 50 (120) so you still have to get to 60 which should be at least another 10 hours.

At announcement they said they were shooting for 60-70% faster depending on the way you leveled, so it’s going to be very fast leveling compared to today (even faster than with the 100% xp buff)

They ran off all the core players and now have nothing to do. That lead to them trying to figure out how to keep jobs. Now you have the rest of the story.

That’s okay. Things won’t ever be perfect and at least that means alts will be easy. Maybe I’ll spend more time in Pandara then. I always meant to finish leveling there and never did.

I don’t get hung up on things. Also, I’m pretty casual so that’s going so that time down a little bit. Even with heirlooms, it still took me about a week to get my monk from 1 to 120.

Oh, it’s a chore for me. I do not like it.

That’s horrible!

Whatever you’re smoking, I don’t want any of it, it makes you delusional.

At one point they said it was cause it’s daunting for new players to have to get to 120+.

I was thinking how funny that statement was when I was trying out ESO this month and saw people that were level 810.
