I would love if Blizz would implement an option to have sound only on for Cinematics. I rarely ever play with the game sounds on, much rather listen to music while playing. But then is always that random cinematic that pops up like the most recent when we logged in a couple weeks ago and here I am having to skip it and watch it over on YT. A selectable check box next to enable sounds for Cinematics only would be amazing.
Probably not realistic to use dev time to make a system where you the player turn the sound off, but then it turn on for a cinematic. Especially when youll have people come here to complain that they turned the sound off for a reason only for the cinematic sound to come blaring on.
But if it’s an option you have to enable in the first place to have sound only during cinematics, that’d be a very odd complaint to make indeed.
I kinda like this idea, personally.
Its just a very specific thing though. And I doubt the numbers of people who want this would warrant the time to develop. People are typically wanting sound or no sound. And you can manually do this right now. If you know a cinematic is coming up, turn sound back on.
Already you can go into settings and turn off every aspect on its own. Music, dialog ambiance or effects. All can be turned on/off or level adjusted manually. So you can basically already do this. I even just tested this. I turned them all down to zero and watched the movie Khadgar has. Full sound of the movie occurred. So that is all that has to be done. It’s silent until a cinematic plays.
Interesting. So if the ‘enable sound’ option is checked, but everything else is disabled, cutscenes will still play with audio? If that’s the case then yeah the option kinda already exists, it’s just not very intuitive.
yeah and wasnt sure until I tried it. If Enable Sound is off, it doesnt matter where the sliders are. No sound occurs in the cut scenes. But if its on and all the sliders are to 0, it still plays with full sound.
I would also like the sound on for only the fishing bobber coming up and queue pops and cinematics please
Have you tried using ctrl-s? I use that all the time for this purpose.
A perfectly reasonable solution, but that depends on: a) the OP remembering this keyboard shortcut to enable/disable sound; b) the OP having the presence of mind to use this shortcut as soon as a cutscene starts loading in.
I actually like the OP’s suggestion, but since there’s a workaround for the exact functionality the OP wants provided by @Jatarri, I doubt the devs would waste any effort on providing an actual check box in the Options / Sound UI controls.
I actually didn’t realize this was a short cut using ctrl-s. Will use it from now on, but yea the OP was mainly about QOL. So having the option in the options would just be that, a Quality of Life feature. Something we dont need, but would be nice to have. Thanks Gnasha for the shortcut though.
