Maybe it’s the cynic in me, but the OP feels like another “I don’t want black or Asian people in the game” post.

I suspect this is simply going to be a retcon. It’s going to be along the lines of “They were always there, but now we’re just choosing to depict it. Get over it”. They will change some random NPCs around the world to different colors and call it a day.

And that will be that.

Pretty much all of the human settlements in the game are based on Britain. Even Arathi has some kind of Stonehenge thing there.

With regard to new character appearances, it won’t break my immersion unless random human NPCs relevant to the plot start becoming Asian and whatnot, which I doubt will happen in the near future.

There already is an explanation in lore. Humans were originally tribal and nomadic.

So, you’re just from a variety kingdom or one of those wandering tribes that existed and their heritages were spread along when the human population came together under a single banner.

Because oftentimes those terms are never used in any meaningful way. Imagine playing a game that is filled with minorities (roughly 9.9% of the world’s population) and demanding that the game be more diverse. On top of that, you don’t want there to be any reason given as to these changes other than you don’t feel right playing a game where your ingame avatar doesn’t match your real life skin.

I’m Native and I can’t possibly imagine playing a korean MMO and being upset that there aren’t more Native Americans in it. Insane. However, if they did just randomly add Native Americans to it, I would probably feel like they ONLY did that to appease me and my loud group of narcissists especially if it wasn’t organic with no ingame reason given.

This is a good point actually. If you criticize this change for how it breaks lore and what is obviously based on European culture, people will call you all sorts of bad things.

But I have also played Korean MMOs and I wouldn’t want them to randomly insert white people into it. That would defeat the point of playing a game with that theme.
