I don’t really see your problem. I arranged all my characters by realm when warbands launched. I just dragged them around in the list. Now that we can make camps, I’m trying to decide how to sort them that way. (I don’t have an even four characters on all my realms.)
I think Futatsu wants to have to type something to get to what you have. I don’t know. I prefer to just hit the button that i already pre-sorted
you really dont undertand, imagine this
you have 1000 files, and you have to choice between arrange them mantually or using a tool to arrange them
which option is better ? spend hours arranging the files bases on a feature they sahre or few seconds just typing one detail that all the files you need share in a searching tool ?
For me, if I have 4 toons on Zuljin or whatever realm it is easier to take the 30 seconds once to name a campsite Zuljin 80’s or whatever and drag them into it. Then forever after that i have a button under the campsite i am in now, click it and poof there they are no typing required
So what we already have? We can sort, search, arrange and group.
What’s with the attitude?
But we already have that?
I believe they don’t understand that we already have a filing system
I get wanting more options. Like… let me move my campsites around and rearrange them. Make the list narrower, because on my monitor, my character gets cut off (and we honestly don’t need that massively sized list). Have options for camps to be larger and just don’t display after the first four.
Those types of things make sense to me.
But getting snippy with people over a search feature that we already have? I don’t get it.
It took me awhile to get used to, but I’m okay with it now. I used to have all my Horde characters on one server, and my Alliance characters on another. I simply arrange them from highest to lowest levels now. Seeing that I have 65 characters is sometimes depressing though lol.
Yeah, there doesn’t seem to be a way to move the campsites up or down in the list which is a minor annoyance. But you can sort your toons however you choose. You can have a mains campsite, Alts, Bank toons, server, race, class. With 20 campsites you can stick every toon in one if you so choose
Fun fact: they didn’t like the answers here, so they made a thread to whine about us.
No one has 1000 characters. This is a silly analogy.
I play on 3 “servers”, and have sorted my guys by server, then each character name on each server alphabetically.
This list was messed up 2x, because I did the Plunderstorm.
Once I realized Plunderstorm messed up the list, I “finished” it, then re-did the list, hopefully for the last time.
I haven’t created any new campsites, because I do not want to mess up the list again, and have to re-sort. It was a pain.
The answer to your question is I think “no”.
Honestly the layout was a bit annoying when it first released, but you get used to it and eventually barely notice it. At least for me anyways (= I normally just put my more used characters near the top.
With recent updates to the character select, you should be able to search by realm. It is the closest that Blizzard has provided outside of the warband camp functionality.
Personally, I ended up creating camps for the different realms (and six for Wyrmrest Accord) to keep things sorted.
I offered a suggestion to help people who are discussing a desire to see characters based on the realm, instead of an account wide list. Campsites are limited to like 20 per account and each one (at least on my screen) is limited to just 4 toons. Clearly based on your responses, you like this new feature. Not everyone does, I find it disorienting that I can see all of my 30+ characters in one list, especially considering many of them have similar or same names on different realms. Realistically, offering a traditional view would cost Blizzard nothing, the code already exists and how hard would a toggle selector be to put in the UI?
I agree, it was disorienting to just have a list all your toons in one giant list after having them separated by realm for many years and scrolling down to find the toon you want. But for me, I have grown to like the campsites better. I have every toon i care anything about in a campsite and the rest of the toons below that are ones i care nothing about. If I want to see toons from one realm it only takes one click instead of clicking select realm and clicking the realm you want and then clicking ok. Also just for me, I care nothing about realms so mine are just in campsites named things like Mains, Alts, 70 somethings, bank toons, twinks
