Aesthetically Rev is pretty cool with the extremely ornate Gothic architecture Blizz has going on. I’d say Arden is pretty, but isn’t too far off from some of the mix of NE/Arcane vibes we saw in Legion.
The Maw is an extremely austere and boring looking zone, but I think it is meant to look devoid of beauty bc that would be too much of a manifestation of life? Either way idk it is more annoying than scary to me at this point.
I do hope that in one of the later patches we see the Jailer assault Azeroth so we can kind of bring the story together. He is after the world soul, after all.
Ardenweild is very pretty
I just wanna lay down on a mossy hill and be swarmed by fluffy bunnies and butterflies

Revendreth would be the pinnacle of this expansion if it wasnt for the fact that half of revendreth is destroyed due the war with the light…
MAYBE there might be a chance were we can get the full revendreth back to their glory in 9.2 like we got the vale of the eternal blossoms in BFA.
You ever read something so stupid it actually made you squint?
I’m really feeling that meme right now
IMO, the problem with new WoW is that the world itself doesn’t feel important. It exists just to fuel the systems put in place.
In the old world of warcraft, you benefited from harvesting food and cloth to sustain your character. Hunters were especially tied to the world with their animal companions’ needs and their need for ammunition.
Today’s WoW is just about doing your dailies/weeklies and playing the lottery. That’s really it. It’s a very refined game. I can already tell you what the next expansion will play like… and the one after that… etc. The game is stale. The look of the zones change, and abilities get toyed with, but there’s no real mystery anymore.

Last year I started leveling a character. Took her through vanilla, TBC and the start of WotLK. Then got bored with the class.
Last week, I decided to try a paladin and leveled her through FrostFire Ridge (WoD), High Mountain (Legion) and then Jade Forest (MoP.) Once again, the last blew me away; it’s details and vistas are amazing.
I feel the same way. It seems sterile to me.
(To me, there is an artificiality with the Kyrians which is reflected in their zone. Was this on purpose?
That said, one difference is that Revendreth has a depth to it–like additional ways to get around–that Bastion lacks. I wonder if it was the last zone added and is incomplete.)
It’s amusing, I got WoW right around the first restock or so in December 2004 but WotLK is the only expansion I have straight up disliked.
Atmosphere was great, agreed but the quests were horrible tedium in almost every zone, completely gutted Naxxramas until Ulduar opened was horrible then horrible after it was quickly ushered Ulduar out.
PvP went to hell real quick with some warped changes along with DK ruining early arena as well as every single game stretching on forever. They destroyed heroic dungeons by nerfing the difficulty basically in half and in came LFG and LFR.
It, to me, is unequivocally the worst of old school WoW. I’d take Shadowlands over it 10 times out of 10. Shadowlands is a bit overdesigned and overproduced but it’s still better than bagpipes and low poly trees making me misty eyed for mediocrity.
Problem with early WoW is that it introduced so many people to MMOs, its garnered the most absurdly thick nostalgia goggles I’ve ever seen.
It ain’t nostalgia, please don’t kid yourself.
When the only thing they’ve done with it is increase the speed sure I can see how they might think it is bad.
I really dig the romanesque afterlife and it gives me some Tales of Zesteria vibes when it comes to the beginning area of that game.
I figured people would disagree with that one, Bastion is purely personal preference. The other 3 I genuinely think top all other zones period, especially wod shadowmoon. Something about that place, I should really roll another alliance alt and go lol there again next.
probably because its supposed to be a land of the dead.
Damn that Howling Fjord puts me in the state of Zen.
That music is so good.
Like the guy who made that music, should get Nobel’s prize.
I can’t… Just few seconds of that video and I wanna play WotlK again.
I thank you and raise you one of my favorites:
