And how enhancement has been gutted of it’s range with little compensation elsewhere to make it effective as a full blown melee.
You have to understand where the class came from and previous design decisions to be able to look at where it is now and why it currently doesn’t work when a previous system was altered.
Going back to maelstrom weapons the way they are currently in SL misses a lot of what made maelstrom weapons work in the first place.
Another example. Lava Lash cleaving flame shock and a 100 yard range to be able to use fire Nova allowed enhance niche spots in rbg teams that cleaved. This cannot be done in the SL incarnation. This is just one of the issues we are facing.
Mana issues that now stem from having costs in abilities but no primal wisdom. The lack of burst damage from Stormblast in MoP. The lack of frozen power, earthen power, stone Bulwark totem. All things that made enhance viable for pvp…because last I checked…in WoD, enhance wasn’t the strongest for pvp.
Not to mention my first comment stated Enhance HAD…not has. Past tense. Current enhance pvp doesn’t work because of how it previously played (my example) compared to what was gutted (my example) and not compensated for.
Things still missing that are needed for maelstrom weapons range melee hybrid to work in pvp.
- unleash elements
- wolf healing
- frozen power
- earthen power
- searing totem
- sham rage
- stone Bulwark totem
- Stormblast
- primal wisdom
- strong baseline heals
- healing rain
- ancestral guidance
- conductivity
All of which we had up until MoP/WoD.
Things we have now that we didn’t have before.
- crash lightning
- ice strike
- hailstorm
They are pushing us back to a joust playstyle except modern meler classes have more mobility and self healing then they did back then, while our toolkit is still gutted to allow for the joust playstyle which could already be irrelevant because of modern melee toolkits.
As for searing totem tickling when it was out, the goal wasn’t for it to do massive damage. It was to keep them in combat to prevent another out of combat charge…while stacking searing flames to 5, which once you got, you would joust then repeat. It’s also still damage being done allowing you to kite, which is more than current enhance has.
I am glad it’s gone in pve, but in pvp it served a specific purpose and assisted the joust playstyle enhance had. Again, something missing from SL.
Edit - you also didn’t need to melee anything to get MW stacks as we had a talent that allowed us to generate stacks when struck, making it generate in ghost wolf. I haven’t paid attention to whether or not SL lightning shield has added this back.
