You wouldn’t, unless the price was out of whack. That occasionally happened later in WoD and you could actually make a little bit of gold going from crystals to shards. It gave something for really casual enchanters to do. I could see it being useful after the expansion is over and future characters are leveling because purples will be easy to get at that point compared to blues and greens.
