Stagger itself isn’t DR, so no, not entirely. You can get by, even in fairly high keys, letting purely physical tankbusters through with no defensive, maybe a CB, and purifying it, but that’s not inherently DR. Stagger is roughly equivalent to active mitigation.
Also I’m not sure what you’re giving up for CTA. If it works for you, by all means, but I can’t see the mediocre uptime on a mediocre defensive like Niuzao being worth it, even for one point, in that bracket.

Purifying Brew now provides the player with a choice of two different healing options based off the follow up ability selected.
RSK/BoK - Single Target greater heal
Crane - Heal over time
Obviously there would need to be some tuning done to not make this broken, but it would offer something similar to what DK’s/Druids have now on top of EH.

we just purifying brew to have 3 stacks and work like DK runes, each PB has its own CD which reduces by other abilities, in M+ where mob count is high we run out of PBs so easily in long lasting packs, keys like 14+
Keg Smash should silence and interrupt because who could possibly chant or cast a spell with a keg smashed into their face.
Or at a minimum exploding keg should silence/stun. I don’t mind the 3s of defensive physical immunity for trash, but I would trade that for a 1min AoE silence.
3s is such a stupidly short duration for something that is clearly geared for M+.
Bosses in raids do so little damage from their melee auto’s that even if you buffed it to 10s, it still wouldn’t impact raid balance at all.
I’d be fine with the silence, but please do not add a stun to our rotation. CC in the damage rotation feels awful, especially if it’s a stun since it’s the most commonly used. Contributing to DR for no reason other than rotation feels awful especially paired with the nerfs to CC.
I’d rather they just bring back one of the older iterations of RoP that silenced on a choice node as a 2m or so though, personally
Agreed no stun. We have a really good aoe stun already. I’d love ROP as a choice node with a knock back or silence.
From a non-exceptional Brewmaster enthusiast scrub, here are my thoughts:
- Like OP said, more universal defensive cooldowns.
- I think Zen Meditation is a terrible talent for a 5 minute cooldown. Get rid of it and make it something that can be used more universally.
- Why do brews have to continually juggle buffs to make their stuff work? What is the point of Shuffle and why can’t it just be baked into the spec. Why do I need to stack a bunch of Purifying Chi just to make Celestial Brew an actual good absorb shield. Why can’t it just be that?
- We need an actual 3-minute offensive cooldown that isn’t butt. Everybody avoids Niuzao and its associated talents and that’s a red flag problem.
You take one point of Nizou in raid builds and Call to Arms. It’s about a 5% damage increase so far from useless, but you also give up a lot of defensive value for it.
Another issue is that in raids you rarely if ever sit in high stagger, making things like Training of Nizou and High Tolerance weaker picks. In a high damage intake scenario brewmaster gets close to a 15% damage increase from our mastery.
