Some Classes Get To Keep CDR?

I’m genuinely so confused. If Barded shot reducing the CD of Beastial Wrath is such a confusing mechanic, why do i see so many other classes able to keep their CDR? Why is it only a couple of specs that lose CDR? If this is a barrier to entry, either every spec should lose CDR or none do. Any chance a blizzard dev(not AI) can answer this logically to me?

Barbed Shot is overloaded as a skill. It reduces Bestial Wrath CD, chance to reset Kill Command, DoT damage lowers Command CD, stacked Thrill, procs Stomp, Brutal Companion (although this hasn’t been good since S1 DF or so)

The changes aren’t as much making it less confusing as making Barbed less bloated

They can take away all the things you listed besides the CDR on Bestial Wrath and I wouldn’t care at all and I bet most people wouldn’t care either. That will at least give BM some small form of skill expression in Midnight, as it stands now there is none.

How is barbed shot cdr for bw skill expression when it happens passively? Thought the skill expression was multi dotting bs which you will still do.

whats the skill expression involved in pressing barbed shot for bw cdr

There’s a reason i used the word “small”. Even though its small, its still there. There a good amount of talents that reduce or give you charges of barbed shot, Pack Mentality - Scent of Blood - Barbed Scales - Wild Call - Call of the Wild. As previously said by Asynic, Barbed Shot reduces the CD or gives charges of Kill Command with multiple different talents.

Where the skill expression comes in, is to make sure to never let barbed shot sit a 2 charges while also never letting Kill Command sit at two charges. Sounds simple but when you’re in a mechanically demanding fight or in an arena match it isn’t always easy to make sure to never sit at 2 stacks of either. For example, lets say you’re in arena and you just casted BW and instantly got cycloned for 6 seconds, what is your first global when you get out? Bloodshed, Barbed Shot (2charges), Kill Command(2charges), or Call of the Wild? If you don’t PvP lets say you’re in a m+ and the pack of mobs die while you still have BW up, tank pulls the next pack and you have 1 second left on Lead From the Front buff, do you cast Kill Command to summon a Stampede but overcap on Barbed Shot charges, or do you cast barbed shot to help reset the CD on BW.

I’m sure because people have this strange weird hatred towards BM hunters people wont like this comment but I just want to say it how it is.

Honestly if the removal of the CDR element comes with making Bestial wrath more impactful then sign me up. Having an impactful CD window can be skill expression in its own right. Learning when to use that window. Lining up all your trinkets and buffs. This is truly fun and what makes current dark ranger build so fun. For me anyways.

In my opinion it will make it easier to nerf.

I can already see the blue post “we feel a 30 second CD for BW is too short of a cooldown for such a impactful cooldown. In order to make sure it keeps in line with other classes and is easier to balance around we are going to make it a 1 minute CD.”

Watch, I guarantee this is what will happen. I’m amazed, I guess I’m the odd one out on not wanted our CDR gone. Maybe people really do want there to be no thinking at all with this spec.

I love the fantasy BM has of summoning a menagerie of beasts. I’d play it if it was more than a 3 button rotation brain rot spec but unfortunately that’s the design direction they want to keep for it

I don’t think there’s a ton of skill expression in BW cdr. HOWEVER, I do think that removing it is bad, it was nice where u felt that ur rotation went by faster as you’re getting more barb shots —> faster reset –> more bw uptime.

I think the loss of this “i am now spending more time in my cds due to X” is noticeable. It also kinda removes some of the decisions (as insignificant as they can be) that we’d be able to do in practice (not so much in simc) of “there is a bonus damage phase coming up in X seconds, but my BW cd is currently not going to be up for it, so maybe i’ll sacrifice a bit of damage right now by not pressing KC and instead using CS to push my BS’s cdr”

Wait a minute.

You mean you don’t enjoy chasing nameplates with your mouse cursor and making sure all the nameplates have a dot on them?
