SoM will struggle... A new Blizzard failure

good news. this is NOT vanilla NOR classic.

WTB mana regen bump to shadow priests and Shadow priest pve sets.

I’ll ask the 1 question that’s better than any of the others.

Why can’t they just host classic with the crusade patch?

Who are we? You and what army? xDDDDD
Dude. CLassic Era is for NoChanges cult. SoM got some changes, but main issues are not addressed.

I mean I’m part of this army and have seen several that agree with me. I don’t want class balances. I like the feel of the classes in WoW and that you have to understand what you’re getting into when you make a character.

Also I don’t want to have to worry about my class from week to week, and whether or not they’ll change it.

Yeah, since you play warrior that is begging for nerf. But yeah, shadow priests, boomkins and paly tanks say Hi.

Dude this is my character from the first iteration of classic. My new toon on SoM is a shammy. And when I made him I knew I would be healing in raid.

So guess what I’ll be doing?

Healing.

I don’t get why everyone wants to play a damn boomkin or a ret pally. There are other choices that play better and are more entertaining anyways.

Full Naxx bis holy priest is shocked. But I have bad news for you. Boring as hell. Single healing ability spam class, worse then MC and BWL frost mages.

That’s fine, I wanted to heal. So I knew what I signed up for, as others should.

I won’t go crying to daddy blizzard for a buff.

What is really strange about this thread is that NO ONE HERE is arguing for #nochanges, and yet two groups seem to be almost toxic in their challenges to each other … even though both sides are ok with #somechanges.

It does look like Blizz is trying to find ways to improve gameplay (speed at least) while maintaining the “feel” of OG Vanilla without introducing any really RETAIL behaviors or mechanisms.

Everyone here (with the exception perhaps of the OP) seems pretty happy with SoM as it stands. There is no reason to go to either ERA or TBCC … (maybe with other toons, which is what I do) … instead just enjoy SoM and hope more new players join in as well, to broaden the player base by a million new players. Tell your friends to JOIN. Lol. GL to all.

On Obsidian Egde the realm is poppin’ ! … literal a ton of players and constant new players. Can’t speak for other realms.

Our guild constantly has over 100 people online and can peak sometimes to 300.

The open world has a ton of people moving about - so much that people are asking for more layering due to how busy the zones are.

Based on this I wouldn’t say it was a failure at all - so far we are having even a better time than classic.

Sorry your experience so far has been different

lol no it isn’t

Holy crap dude please stop being so myopic. It’s like you were so desperate for a fresh experience you’re OK with pretending it’s not a major change.

Adding a Taunt to Prot Pally’s = more Pally Tanks in Raids.
Removing the Debuff limit = more Affliction Locks and Shadow Priests in Raids.

It nets out the same.

There were over 7,000 Alliance players on Vendorstrike at one time last night.

Just sayin’.

changing a class directly by adding a skill is a much bigger change than indirectly effecting raid comps by lifting the debuff limit
for very obvious reasons

Not if the outcome is exactly the same. I’d love to hear you logic in thinking one has a bigger effect on the actual game than the other when you look at the outcome.

What’s the effect of giving Pally’s a Taunt? More Pally’s tanking in end game.
What’s the effect of removing the Debuff limit? More Affliction Locks and Shadow Priests in end game.

The same would hold if hybrid casters like Ele Shaman and Moonkin were given a mana expenditure adjustment. The effect is you’d see those meme specs more in end game.

Of course none of this will happen in this iteration of Seasons but I hope to see real changes in the future.

they’re not exactly the same. for one thing, removing the debuff limit is only relevant in 40 man raids, whereas giving a class new skills changes it for literally everything…

Raids are the entirety of PVE end game in Vanilla/Classic and on top of that making Affliction/Shadow viable in that content also means you’ll see far more of them in non Raid content as a result.

You’re myopia keeps showing up when say “new skills”. A Pally Taunt is the only new skill I’ve see players ask to be added. Most of the requested changes I’ve seen are to fix the poorly designed specs from Vanilla. That means better mana sustain for hybrid ranged specs and general DPS balance overall.

The net effect of those kind of changes would just mean more of those specs out in the world but the meat of Vanilla wouldn’t change.

Dungeon and Raid mechanics would be the same.
We’d still be walking until level 40.
Flight paths would still be sparse.
Hunters and Locks would still need bag space for ammo and shards.
Yada, yada, yada…

paladins not having a taunt is their weakness as a tank, just like druids weakness as a tank is not being able to use a shield to stop crushing blows.
if you want to be a real tank, roll a warrior.
welcome to classic vanilla.

LMAO dude. Did you even read what you wrote? You negated your first argument with your last line. Strengths and weaknesses is a great thing in RPG’s and I agree but then you tell us how it really is…

If 2 of the Tanks specs have weaknesses but the third doesn’t and thus is the only “real” tank it kind of breaks the idea of strengths vs weakness or are you too obtuse to even see that? Was it that you have no rebuttal and decided to fall back on the tired “go back to retail” meme?

Once again…this isn’t Vanilla. This isn’t even Classic. Go back to ERA if that’s what you want.
