Allow us to use alts as NPCs with varying levels of skill and ability based on achievements or milestones.
Step 1: Level characters to 80 (only 4x can be used for your NPC party at a time).
Step 2: Allow unlocking party slots for seasonal solo challenges:
First unlock is from current expansion loremaster + zone exploration.
2nd unlock is from killing all rares + world bosses at least once and getting treasure hunter achievements.
Clear all delves solo on rank 8 or higher. (also upgrades AI intelligence and skill)
4th and final unlock is from clearing all delves on tier 11 solo. (further boosts AI skill and intelligence)
Then after unlocking the slots clearing the ? delve boss and double ? delve boss would each grant additional AI skill and intelligence to be even better teammates.
This would give players who solo a chance to unlock a full hardcore party to take into dungeons, gear, etc. The NPC solo party would be locked to solo world quest content, delves, and other solo quests/scenarios.
I don’t know why people want this so much. I have alts but their gear is not good - they would stink as npc party members. And you would still have to run all the alts through delves or whatever to gear them up. It wouldn’t save time at all. No thanks.
It would be really cool if they could train bots to play like our characters, although mine would be constantly dying due to fall damage because they think that’s what they are supposed to do after learning from me. LOL
What an odd idea. I can’t say I like it all that much.
We have Follower dungeons. We have that thing where people can go in and do the last raid boss with an AI group. We have a bg event fighting against useless AI characters. Just how much more will the game need to go before it becomes a single player RPG?
So no, I’d not vote for it, if my vote was asked.
Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t say solo play should replace multiplayer. More options are always better. Though it would be interesting to see if a full solo option was made available and turned out to eclipse M+ in popularity. That would imply a few things.
Delves are already doing that, unless I’m mistaken.
Look I’m a bit of an NPC leveller myself (in FFXIV). I have a min-max’d sqaudron and the titles Golden Heart from taking all the NPCs to max in my Trust.
The idea isn’t bad but I can sincerely say the meta-strategy there and here is to let the NPC do everything. Especially if they’re good enough for keys. Easy vault doesn’t even matter if you fail the timer.
It wouldn’t make a difference, a team of your own alts would still inspect your gear and judge your abilities, kick you from the group and then put you on ignore.
If Blizzard ever gives us something similar, it’ll be purely cosmetic. (Let’s admit it: Blizzard is pretty good about staying consistent re: rewards being cosmetic vs player power.)
Exactly this. They talked of the idea to replace the four NPCs in Follower Dungeons with our Warband characters. That would just be our characters skinned onto those AI. And that’s fine.
