Soleah, what's the problem, people?

Been bored, so been pushing into 13s and 14s.

Figured I’d do the two wings of Taz to start off with since they seem to be easy enough that all 4 of my tanks have their highest scores on these places and I have the pulls pretty well memorized.

Still…

The amount of tom-foolery on Soleah and bricked keys even at 10 and up is just off the damned charts.

What am I missing about this boss that seems to make it so hard for people?

  1. The “collapsing star” ability–at least 2 out of every 5 keys; people have to be reminded to actually DO this mechanic …

  2. Energy Fragmentation - given how @ the very beginning of this season, every tank is pretty much yelled @ to “tank her behind the wagon” – I do this and melee STILL managed to get hit by the um.. “male contribution to DNA” shots. ??

  3. Orb fails - The game could NOT be more OBVIOUS how this mechanic is supposed to work yet every single key, on at least ONE of the orbs, someone is out of position or just not paying attention to where they are standing and the orb isn’t hit and at higher keys, if this mechanic isn’t done correctly the first time she channels, SOMEONE is gonna die when she does it again.

Is it really too much to ask to learn these mechanics BEFORE you start using LFG with total strangers and wasting their time?

You only tank her behind the wagon in p1 to get the assassins to spawn in tight. In P2, you tank her back out towards the door in one of those little wings to give people the most room and visibility to dodge the shards. Mark yourself if you’re good at dodging and people can follow. Are you moving the boss closer to the collapsing stars when they are a ways out, even in p1?

The orbs are not a case of “learning”, it’s a communication issue.

If you’re pugging with no voice and no discussion of strategy at all, you don’t really get to blame anyone for communication breakdown. You’d rather wipe than talk to people. That’s cool, but it’s not anyone else’s fault.

he is talking about people not standing correctly so the arrow goes through the orb. i see a lot of people stand on top of it and it misses it

The boss is so much easier if a mobile range dps does it like a bm hunter. But a lot of people just default think the healer should do it. Depending on how much a healer can heal on the move, having your healer do it can be problematic.

If you are persistent then you can fail upwards with pugs. It’s why everyone should add skilled players to their friend’s list at the end of runs. Over time you get a huge list of competent players you have access to.

yeah. if you have a mage, lock, and bm hunter, you should not be expecting your mw to do collapsing star

and ensuring they are all on at the same time so you can play together? that’s the “roster boss” right?

look, lfg is fine, but we either need to see stricter punishments for failing or something. I’m usually NOT in favor of punishments but if Blizz wants people to “be better” then players need to be punished when they fail so they learn instead of just allowing them to brute force with fotm tanks or healers and never once get better @ doing anything other than topping meters

the only punishment for m+ that I THOUGHT would be effective would be that you have to time the key to get the correct loot.

No more of this failing a key and still getting loot and/or faililng to time a key but still getting the vault slot. (you should have to TIME a 10 to get a myth piece in vault?) i dunno

For as long as dps player failures can be delegated to the healer or tank to fix, bad players will continue to do nothing except push their buttons as hard as they can, clap themselves on the back for their damage parses, and trash talk the tanks and heals that are bending or breaking under the strain of carrying them.

my only hope right now is that allegedly in Midnight, most of what makes mythic plus TRASH annoying to deal with is being curbed a bit. I think this will go a long way

It will raise the ceiling, eventually scale to be hard for other reasons (tank starts to die, healing checks become too hard, not enough damage to beat the timer, ect), people will complain. pin it! :pushpin:

You just get a larger list of friends then. It does get to a point where you’ll have friends on when you play.

You don’t tank her there in p2. It’s just there to snap the adds in p1.

there’s two places you tank her depending on what phase she’s in.

First phase, behind first wagon close to where she is engaged

Second phase ..pull her all the way to a wagon on the left side near the stairs so that the ..um…male-dna-bolts are both easier to see and avoid

i see this very rarely. usually people just bring her to one side “platform” or the other.

sure, but the intent is the same, you pull her to a side so that you can SEE the whole field and avoid the tadpoles
