Soft Reset - The other side of the world?

I hope there’s a pool.

Can’t have a cool expansion area without a pool.

Sure… ((writes in notebook))

we would be able to stomach said environments if they didnt suck

Wasn’t SL supposed to be the soft reset? The “end” of the saga started in WC3 was the pitch back then.

If it was meant to be the end of the saga started in WC3 then it committed one of the most primal of all writing sins - don’t bring along a new villain with zero foreshadowing and say “they were behind everything all along, now get invested in them.” It’s rather obvious when something is made up at the last minute like that.

See: Beerus in Dragonball Super.

I feel like it was, but it didn’t quite hit the mark. I feel Blizzard felt they needed more time (just my guess) because Shadowlands was received so poorly. So, they hit the drawing board post shadowlands and gave us DF to buy time. Then for their true big finale they cooked up the Worldsoul Saga, which will give us appropriate closure to “this side” of Azeroth.

Only reason my theories are like this is because a lot of storybeats for WoW these last few years seem very similar to FF14. Ever since the Shadowlands vs FF14 debacle, I feel Blizzard have taken some inspiration from their narrative team. Even the Arathi Empire reminds me a lot of the Garlean Empire in FF14, which was a place we didn’t get to see but was alluded to for a very long time. Granted, in FF14 when we finally did see it, it was quite disappointing imo. Just a desolate broken landscape due to certain events.

Point being, Worldsoul Saga really reminds me of a big hoorah for our characters akin to Endwalker. An appropriate ending, unlike Shadowlands was supposed to be. Meanwhile, it seems the whole other side of the world thing is also similar to what the WoL is going through right now in Dawntrail. Basically, post Endwalker your character in FF14 goes across the sea to explore completely new unexplored lands as a mentor figure.

Dawntrail is like the soft reset for FF14 players, embarking on a whole new adventure and leaving the old world behind. I imagine post Worldsoul Saga, we’ll do something similar. Travel across the sea to whole new lands and basically be nobody. Similar to how new expansions feel but on a broader more dramatic scope.

Thank you. This way it’s recorded somewhere for future reference.

To be fair, Beerus sort of has personality, Zovaal… is literally a soulless robot.

Yeah I would never insult Beerus like that.
DBS and DB in general have tons of issues with regards to story continuity, but I 'd still consider their story choices, flawed as they may be, to be FAR superior over the brown trout we’ve been forced to eat since Shadowlands.

Beerus is a perfectly likable character. I just mean how his place in the backstory is clunkily shoehorned in.

“He told Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta.”
Great. Ruin part of Frieza’s character arc that was perfect the way it was.

“Frieza is afraid of Beerus.”
Ruin another part of Frieza’s character. He was pig-headedly fearless and would not recognize anyone else as worthy of being called a god of destruction.

“He sealed the Old Kai.”
Actually, Old Kai said a “terrible villain, though not as bad as Majin Buu,” sealed him.

“Beerus wiped out the dinosaurs.”
Dinosaurs exist in present day DB/Z…
