SoD Runes = Class Homogenization

I think it’s less tank jealousy and moreso just that people who seem super aggressively into pure vanilla gameplay are the ones playing the OP specs in said gameplay.

Getting nerfed into the ground is never fun.

Maybe, at the end of the day I think SoD will be a good bit of short term fun with some silly ideas and a good test run for creating vanilla style encounters from scratch for the dev team.

I think Paladins are the clear winner here.

Their one weakness of being fear spamed is now covered by a rune.

Several new attack based rune abilities to be that 2h crusader archtype everyone has wanted since Diablo 2.

And top it off with Human weapon racials + better windfury from druids? Its no contest.

I’m sure the dozen players who wanted to tank as a Shaman are estatic though.

Elemental shamans will need to wait until the level cap is raised to 40 to see how that works out for them. Enhance just have to stick with dual wield and make friends with Druids for their Windfury at low level.

Blizz might even learn a thing or two that will help develop a Classic+ that people will enjoy.

This is why the classic playerbase can’t have nice things. Already people trying to optimize the fun out of the game. I genuinely feel bad for the zoomer generation of gamers. They find no joy in anything.

People aren’t against change.

What’s with these braindead bipolar arguments that they have to completely change everything and smash retail mechanics into everything or do nothing.

People would be happy with zero changes to class mechanics and new dungeons/raids.

People would be happy with tweaked talent trees that don’t fundamentally change the class mechanics.

People would be happy with better raid balance between horde and alliance by, for example, buffing tranquil air and giving shamans better raid threat reduction.

People don’t want WOW 500% ARMOR MULTIPLIER TURNING INTO DEMON AND TANKING ON A WARLOCK WHILE BLASTING OUT INSTANT CASTS AND DOING HUGE AOE THREAT WITH MANA INVALIDATED. That’s not vanilla design, at all. Neither is, “WOW WE GAVE DRUIDS A WINDFURY AURA THAT’S BETTER THAN WINDFURY TOTEM GET (*)@#D HORDE YOU GET NOTHING FROM PALADINS AND YOUR FACTION IS GOING IN THE TRASHCAN LMAO”

I see the reasoning, but they went a little overboard I think lol. Rogues? I mean, c’mon now.

What’s a worse form of homogenization, having more classes capable of more roles, but that play in unique ways thematic of their classes, or having homogenized vanilla groups because you only have a tiny number of relevant specs that are capable of each role?

All vanilla groups looking the same is a far worse kind of homogenization than what classic purists rant about. Homogenized vanilla groups = lame. Add some sprinkles.

Oh look, another group being tanked by a warrior. What an original and not at all bland experience.

My rogue tanked Broodlord and other bosses in Classic. With some T2 and evasion my dodge % was 98%.

You have your “perfect” version of wow, so go play it. #nochanges.

It’s 2023, there is NO VERSION of any form of classic + that won’t have some sort of retail essence to it and that is something that you and all of the others need to understand. It’s like inviting 10,000 random people over for dinner and preparing one dish for them all to eat, not everyone is going to be happy or even eat. The fact is, not everyone wants to tank as a warrior or bring their Paladin just to spam buffs the entire raid. The funny thing about the warlock is the fact that it’s essentially bear form and yet you dislike it? The funniest part about all of this is we really don’t know much about discovery, so it’s hilarious listening to you all cry about it. QQ

It’s not perfect, there are many changes that could be made to improve it. But you’re obviously lacking in any nuance so its a waste of time talking to you.

Stop speaking facts. The purist don’t like that very much.

Are people confused with “role diversity” and “class identity” ? They aren’t the same. A watlock who turns into a giant winged demon and tank with claws and magic isn’t the same as a traditional warrior who tanks with shield and board, swaps to dual swords or a big axe and smashes enemies.

This is what we need to realize people…

Play classic era right now, setup a group, time how long it takes to set your group up…
It’s gonna take some time on anything but I guarantee you when you are spamming “LF healer” 3-6 mages that whisper you saying invite…
Boom, solving issues with finding healers and same goes with tanks.
Season of Discovery seems to me is they are trying to fill the gaps that are missing in original classic classes.

Totally agree. The class distinctions are ruined.

TBC turned classes into specs - the start of retail.

That might be one of the dumbest things ive seen said in a long time.

Pally should have had a taunt and ret should have had a real dps ability from day 1. That was an oversight by the original creators and they messed up.

Imagine creating a class where 2/3 builds are unusable in end game. If that sounds good to you then thank god your input doesn’t effect anything.

Imagine thinking the game is about raiding.

I’d spend some time explaining about how nearly every paladin spends points in both ret / prot trees throughout their lifespan, but it doesn’t even seem worth it - you clearly are deep in retail ideology.

No im of the a good game all around ideology. Seriously if you dont like that some ppl can actually play and enjoy a spec thats on you.

Just cus it was in classic doesn’t mean its automatically good. News flash ALOT about classic was absolutely trash. I still love it, but some design decisions were just… wow.
