Probably, but shaman block chance is extremely low, and shocks are crazy expensive.
You can’t even use water shield, because it shares a rune with Molten Blast, and you almost certainly need some form of aoe threat.
Molten Blast
Blast enemies in a cone in front of you for 46 to 61 Fire damage. This ability generates a high amount of threat. Flame Shock periodic damage has a 10% chance to reset the cooldown on Molten Blast.
Only thing I see with homogenization here is paladin getting a tremor totem like ability and druids getting windfury.
To be honest I wouldn’t mind them dropping healer mages and tank rogues and locks.
But for Pallies, whats wrong with the them actually getting a taunt and being viable instead of being off meta?
Shammies were kinda intended to be tanks back in vanilla but it never got fleshed out so its nice to see them get fleshed out.
Whats wrong with that? I would rather prefer them to actually be viable then them being a buff bot and or being pigeonholed into being a healer because thats the only viable spec for Paladins in vanilla at the time.
Whats up with Classic players wanting the same few classes (like for tanks: warriors. for dps: warriors, rogues and mages. For healers: Priest) to be meta and always be meta for future seasons and classic+ no matter what and keep the underdog classes and specs untouched. This thinking must be boring man.
And inb4 someone makes assumptions that I want Warriors, mages, rogues and priests nerfed, no I dont want them nerfed, I just want the other specs to have a chance that are either are buff bots (i.e Feral druids, Ret Pallies) or off meta (i.e boomkin).
I have asked you in an another thread, whats wrong with giving them a taunt?
Strange, I have typed “wow can paladins tanks in vanilla” into google and I have seen people say that yes, Paladin can indeed serve as tanks in World of Warcraft Classic but its not considered an optimal default choice for raiding as Warriors just do it better.
Also in the lore, a notable character that goes by alexandros mograine is basically a ret paladin (dps).
Locks, rogues and shammies tanking? Mages healing? Rogues with ranged slows/attacks? Pallies with Whirlwind? Druids with Windfury? The list goes on.
Regardless of whether you are in favor of, or opposed to, the SoD system, there really is no legitimate argument that the changes aren’t significantly homogenizing classes.
Then go play classic era server and dont play the new season its that easy. I am happy that the dev are taking a chance and I plan on playing SoD as my main game cause the rest got boring to me. But now when I see class I cant just be ok I know what this class can do and how to counter. Now in SoD I be like ok wonder what this class will choose to play since we have never seen this game play before.
Absolutely there is. These classes still have vastly different play styles, especially in PvP. If every class was the same there wouldnt be a million threads claiming alliance will be busted because paladins are insane…
Its for players who dont understand this is a season, and they are better off stuck on classic era if thats the game they prefer. Nobody else is allowed to have fun if they arent having fun.
This was the goal. The Devs wanted to open up more classes to tanking because it sucks waiting for a warrior or the very rare Druid to come along. Now 3 more classes can viably tank.
As for mage healing - the Devs wanted to compliment the addition of more tanks with another healer and Mage was the class they chose to act as the new healer. Personally, I think Hunters could have done it as they have a somewhat connection to nature but whatever.
SoD isnt Era. This is a wacky and fun season of Classic WoW madness. Join the fun or miss out!
This is absolute madness. So Your idea of classic+ is adding bunch of random spells from other expansions to vanilla? This is more of a trolling idea than a real classic idea. There are multiple things wrong here.
1 - Changing class roles is not aligned with design of vanilla. Mage healer ?? rogue tank ? are you kidding me
2- Adding stupid amount of power to classes without changing the ratio of dmg to armor/health/resistance in both PVP and PVE is horrible. Vanilla combat design is already imbalanced, spiky and weak comparing with a a solid combat design like BC. Adding bunch of random OP crap is gonna make that even worse.
3- The idea behind addition of runes is not to address the issues in vanilla. But it’s trying to bring in a new flavor to almost every class in the game. But you are simply ignoring the fact that, that makes it not vanilla anymore.
What we want with classic+
1 - new content; new zones, raids, dungeons, quests, events end etc
2- same game/class design with some minor tweak on some classes. Like adding taunt for prot pally or fixing shadow priest lack of in combat mana reg and etc
All in all we want classic+, whether it’s vanilla+ or BC+ I personally prefer BC, to be and to feel like classic. We just want some newer instances of the same thing, the same philosophy and elements. We don’t want a new game, we are just tired of running the same raids with the same mobs and map and objects the same way for 17 years and we want new raids that feel like classic raids but they are not the exact same thing.
Haha, then you clearly don’t understand the meaning of homogenization.
You just proved my point. Giving rogues a ranged slow, adding more tanks, adding more healers–It’s making classes similar and destroying class identity.
Homogenization doesn’t mean all classes ARE identical. It’s the PROCESS of making things similar.
You’ve done a great job creating a strawman: "Well, all classes aren’t all the same, so there’s no homogenization! DERP!’
Sure none of those spells look out of place, for a “Pandaren Monk”. Why would it. They are just making classic more retailized, so ofc it makes sense to you.
They’re really not. They’re doing the opposite: just making a rather chaotic choice of abilities where balance will be very much up in the air. Retail is an ultra optimized game where choice means nothing. Where everything is balanced within a few percentage points. SoD has the potential to just be a wild, unbalanced blast. Which IS the true spirit of Vanilla. We didn’t know everything. The devs didn’t go through every ability with a fine tooth comb for their e-sport competitions.
Players were simply shoved into the world and told, ‘Figure it out. Have fun!’ I’m looking forward to that feeling again.
Wild unbalanced = smarter people than you will figure out which is better in a few days and then build raids around that instead of the current meta.
But based on the current runes nothing will fundamentally change. Warriors still look to be the best tanks, none of the mana tanks are viable for raiding because mana sucks for tanking. Warriors will probably still be the best dps with world buffs due to how they scale with rage mechanics. Maybe there’s some movement around the edges. Mostly alliance gets WF which makes raiding even more imbalanced toward alliance.
But if you want to know what worries me, it’s that the game (like every other version of Classic) will be overrun with bots and dominated with GDKPs. Then I’m gone.
You keep using that word but you dont know what it actually means.
Let me ask you this, Why does this matter? where is the ranged slow being homogenized from?
There are still classes in SoD that still retain their identity.
My avatar does not mean squat to anything, I play classic and retail, my retail avatar means nothing, I would post on a classic character but I would rather have a singular post history.
Youre right here but SoD isnt Vanilla. This is a seasonal server thats full of wacky and fun new stuff. The Devs are not only trying to switch up the meta, they are trying to make discovery fun and exciting by having players out in the lands looking for new abilities.
Were getting a ‘new’ 10 man raid, new abilities in the Classic setting, and a new pvp zone that includes item rep rewards.
SoD is hitting all the right notes for what the Devs are going for: A fun and altering shift in what people are used to when it comes to Classic WoW.
SoM didnt do that well. Its not the right time for a new Era. SoD is perfect right now.
