If you have seen any of the videos of literally hundreds of bots logging in at the exact same time and then running the exact same path into stockades or the tree in silver pine to fly hack, then think blizz is doing a lot, I don’t know what to tell you.
They obviously cannot detect hundreds of characters inputting the exact same keys and taking the exact same path, they can’t detect bots that fly hack to z axis spots that no legitimate player could get to, they couldnt detect the hundreds of hunters for several weeks that were all using Chinese named pets that farmed the same location for days at a time.
Maybe they are “doing a lot” but they are failing which is proven by the fact that gold on RMT sites is dirt cheap because hundreds of thousands of bots farm 24/7 with hardly any issues. They are a billion dollar company that doesn’t have an anti cheat (I don’t even know how effective this would be) or a few in game GM’s that could easily ban thousands of bots within 30 minutes.
Bottom line is there is no financial incentive for them to put any significant resources into detecting and banning bots and they lose money doing it. If every RMT cheater and botter got banned tomorrow, blizz loses a lot of money.
that would imply that supply outstrips demand by a lot and suggest nobody is buying gold even if tons of it is being farmed.
You’re right that the supply is outpacing demand. The bots farm such a ridiculous amount of gold that they have to lower their prices everyday.
people are still buying it and likely prices will rise again when P2 launches. But the main issue and driving factor to the RMT/gdkp problem, IMO, is that bots can farm absurd amounts of gold before blizz bans them. If blizz was able to effectively ban bots before they become profitable, it’s the best solution.
Perma banning RMT buyers could also be another viable solution but then blizz loses sub money from some of its most hardcore players and then they have to deal with a huge increase in ban appeals. They could/should just hire more real life GM’s rather than relying on their automated ban appeal process, but again they lose money by hiring more people. Blizz isn’t implementing a solution that will lower their bottom line even if it results in a better game.
From what I understand, since I don’t visit the sites but have read on Reddit is that prices have been spiraling downard since launch of SoD, meaning Gold buying has never really been popular yet in SoD.
My prediction is that it wil be in phase two though when mounts become available and people switching professions for whatever is best suited for Gnomer and powerleveling that.
Yep, this GDKP has made me quit SoD. It was fun while it lasted.
You would have quit anyway, nothing lost.
Nah, I love SoD. The economy is screwed though. I don’t have the patience for the player base that is playing SoD anymore.
Season of Discovery has been infected with the T-Virus.
