Sod is based on content that is 20 years in the past.
And how the content is going, it’s basically a different game at this point.
I wouldn’t use the lore from sod as canon for retail.
Now Im not saying forsaken paladin aren’t going to be a thing, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up for stuff happening on sod.
I’d need to see a quote of exactly what is said. I think you might be taking what he said a little to literal and are stretching it to what you want to be real.
I could be wrong, but based on what is in sod and how it has deviated from retail, I can’t see much being canon without retconning.
Yes, this npc cryptically confirms that Darion will still free his father’s soul with the Ashbringer, but then again, the Naxx Raid has alrwady been cleared by the time you get the sword in SoD. The Ashbringer comic, I think, contradicted the original Naxx raid, similar to how Varian killed Onyxia in a comic.
So taking this into account. I think you are reading too much into it.
It’s way to vague and they also state “doesn’t change characterizations, motivations, or reframe any storylines in a major way.”
Adding more class options would be under reframing and characterizations.
But I’m not against new class/race combos. I just don’t think that is what they meant.
There is literally a forsaken pally who travels to UC to recruit more like minded Forsaken…
It’s as simple as that. Not looking too much into it, that’s face value right there
If we’re to extrapolate that into modern lore then that forsaken probably formed his own paladin order that’ll be revealed in the near future potentially
You never know. Hopefully they do expand them. Ive been wanting a paly nelf since I started playing wow.
Then seeing one in legion… blizz loves yanking our chains lol.
As I understand it, Blizzard has LONG since made it clear that, lorewise, there is no reason a creature with a particular innate magical affinity cannot learn to use magic of an opposing affinity.
We’ve had undead priests using Holy magic as both players and NPCs (Alonsus Faol) since vanilla. Void elves can use light magic, lightforged can use shadow magic, dark iron dwarves (whose hair can literally be permanently aflame with elemental fire) can use ice magic.
The remaining race/class combo limitations are almost entirely technical because of extra work required to implement them in-game.
the only assets remaining to be made are shaman totems and paladin chargers but they could just as easily create a generic alliance/horde themed totem for shaman and a generic alliance/horde themed charger mount. dwarves and draenei used the human paladin charger im pretty sure and they used all the same totem models for shaman until they made special ones
Yeah, I think the best option would be for shamans/paladins to get class customizations from the barbershop NPC, like druids and warlocks got options to alter their forms and pets.
Just let us choose what kind of charger we want, and what theme of totems we want, regardless of race. All the races are so integrated now it wouldn’t matter.
My preference would be Vulpera Paladins. We need an option with a shorter stature. I don’t count Earthen because they’re too much like dwarfs in appearance.
Here lies WoW Lore, with hoofed rogues, lightforged dks/warlocks and soon to be undead paladins . . . and the Jailer
But hopefully the moment anyone creates an undead forsaken, their character just bursts into flames and dies the moment they log in.
That would be acceptable and true to the lore.
Never understood why people want this ridiculous race/class combo anyways. Paladins, the anti-undeath lightweilder, undead, the anti-light zombie held together by shadow. Make it make sense.
