Socializing does not exsist, barely

You are literally the type of person that killed the social aspect of wow. All you want is to sit in a queue and then be vile to the other four people in your random group so you can do your one dungeon a day and get on with you “life” which is probably very mediocre.

I would also like to point out that vast majority of players I see complaining about a non existent social aspect or community all tend to be alliance players.

Right. Oh, by the way, Blizz is selling a 70 boost with Wrath, right? I guess skipping 70 levels isn’t ‘go go go’.

But forming groups without paying a booster is.

Makes perfect sense.

Wow speaking of toxic.
“Play my way or not at all”
Such a beacon of community you are jeeze.

Every moment is an opportunity to socialize, something an RP server makes blatantly clear.

The issue is the modern playerbase, not the systems.
We are mostly all about ‘go go go’ because
a) we have already been doing this for 15 years, becoming more efficient (and less patient) is inevitable
b) we have busier lives and literally can’t be as patient anymore, available time to play is not what it used to be

BUT. I have found if you want your random group to be social, all it takes is for one person to speak up and get the ball rolling.
All you have to do is be that person. The others will likely remember, oh yeah, we can talk and have fun while we do this.

So we should feign interest in people and try and force a conversation to take place? I’ll pass.

People tend to remember me because my name is unique, I try talking in groups but most of the time it falls on deaf ears.

But that doesn’t stop me from talking in dungeon groups.

I’ll admit this very idea had crossed my mind. Petty? Yes. Do I care? Not really.

Well, in my opinion, the social experience for any game is linked to its growth and diminished by the ease of access to information.

Right from vanilla launch to WotLK you had unprecedented growth. This meant loads of new players who new NOTHING about the game. People had to constantly adapt to new changes the game threw at them. People didn’t know how bad/good some classes/specs were, neither did they know how they would change. Bosses weren’t tested on PTR before being released.

Without huge websites to rely on, or efficient ways of publishing/simming data. The playerbase relied on each other to overcome those barriers. It was actually hard back in 2004 to find any kind of guide for black rock depths, or how important downranking is, or what arena comps worked well together… this lack of information drove players to building and valuing the social dynamics they had between themselves and others on there server.

Fast forward to today. Why would a new player EVER have to ask anyone about anything? They can check the latest Sims on discord and web pages. They know every change to the meta provided classic avoids large deviations from its original state. There are 100s of YouTube guides on how to play their class. Warcraft logs gives raid leaders every detail they want to know about anyone’s performance… without Warcraft as the link between you and the players next to you, most player couldn’t give a rats a** how your day is going.

Its pointless to bringing back the past, but rather to plan around the present and future.

It creates more problems than it fixes. Classic isn’t about “GO GO GO”.

That’s kind of hilarious when you’re talking about tbc considering 90% of the player base plays exactly like that How can I say that where’s my proof of that easy Logs, Gear check End on top of that 90% of people say when they’re Guild recruiting they never talk about the personality of the person it’s always what is the person’s parces.

Like it or not That’s exactly how people play the game now And if you honestly don’t see that well sir you are completely blind.

That’s not an excuse to just shrug your shoulders and go “Eh, who cares”.

Pro-community people like myself care. If you’re not talking in groups, you’re actually part of the problem, not the solution.

So you’re telling me if somebody spams LFG for hours Never gets a group And RFD could help You would rather see people leave the game Then actually find a solution for it because in your opinion it’s better for the community I hate to tell you pal but there’s no community if there’s no people.

What you are telling me is As long as you’re happy with it there’s a community just because you and your friends can do stuff there’s a community That’s just selfish plain and simple

Id say only SOM wasn’t go go go really. And that, imo, was partially based on some players going for no deaths.

they wanted the achievement. so those players didn’t rush. Conservative no risk play was common among those on DiD (dead is dead) kicks. And its dungeon boost nerfs…were more accepted. Some didn’t even dungeon the leveling much.

tank messes up…that DiD run just, well, died. as the dedicated ran a special add on for it. Like a raider io thing. it jsut recorded that till 60 this player no BS did not die ever. In this way at level say 49…you’d know player x wasn’t lying. So they like you…were not going to yolo the game. at 49 no deaths, they weren’t about to live dangerously now lol.

That is…until they died. then they played what is normal now.

go go go…think we got it, its xp. hit it!

Yeah I’m not talking about hardcore though and I’m not talking about So N your entire robottle is based around the idea of hardcore though that’s not your average player.

Yes you would be correct all those things that you’re currently talking about only work in the setting of hardcore and So M yes you are correct dungeon boosting was nerved however thearth however the experience was boosted from quests and fact honestly I think it’s actually faster to get a character to character to 60 in som Then a character to 70 in tbc at this point.

But yeah but again as you said look at som it’s got a population of 7536 so ya som is dead I mean it’s a different mindset when you’re playing hard core though.

So I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to get at but yeah outside of the hardcore community the other as I said 90% of people are go go

LF TANK LF TANK LF TANK
This is what Blizzard defines as “socializing.”

Yup And they would rather see people leave than trying to find a solution and the thing is no matter what solution even if they literally rip the group finder from retail and put it in.

You’re still going to have the same 2 problems There are people that want to justify finding groups and LFG Chad is the best way to play the game because they find it social.

The problem is those players are not a very big portion of the player base and there are normally people that are already in either a tightness community already or they’re in a big Guild.

And especially with gear score coming in mark my words People think the gear checks are bad now Ho just wait You’re going to see people refusing tanks and healers because they don’t have hind of gear score.

Because they want to do heroics is fast and efficiently as possible

I’ve read through some of the comments and I agree with them, in general, I think the game is what you make of it, but did other people not use the server forums to socialize back in the day?

Sure we didn’t have Discord in 2004 and for years after but we also didn’t have the forum rules. You could call people out on the forums for being a ninja, trash talk, get the other faction to put stuff on the neutral AH, and a lot of what Discord does today. So I’d say I did socialize in the game back then, I do think it’s still possible now, but the server forums were a good time. While I met a lot of good people in the game just by grouping up I met even more people through those server forums.

My guild back then also had a website with a forum and we all communicated on that often too. Just like now, you could talk to guilides who were not logged in about whatever on the guild forums. We had signups in the same place.

This was all in Vanilla and on. So I don’t really see the old-school forums and Discord as being a lot different.

Sounds like you’re playing retail.

Nah It went like this.

You see one time lead classic dev (he tweeted this actually) went into wailing cavern once in SOM and no one knew who tank was.

so he asked some guy…are you tanking?

he said been a bit but sure…

that is socialization. asking who is the tank. As they seemingly pulled a crew that didn’t have a tank set for tank.

Retail lacks this. its devoid of the soul this is. they don’t ask who is tank the anti-social people that they are.

Mainly because if you have to ask this question…it means you can’t even read the player bars. Which is a real good way to win friends.

Nah I’m still hype on LK classic, I’m just unhappy for the removal of RDF. Don’t even have SL installed.

i think that classic players aren’t playing to socialize in the first place, we have…
1-raid loggers who only aim to rush clear and logout asap.
2-then we have buyers and sellers as both just wants get what they wants and probably they play for RMT.
3-we also have people who play to socialize within guilds only.
4-and casuals mostly who can’t fit into this elite wanna be community.

tbh you can make friends in Shadowlands easier than you can make in current classic, since retail offer much better options.
