OP is going fishing apparently.
I’ll leave one last link here:
The ADA was only made law in 1990, it’s not ancient history and people had to fight to make it happen.
Speech to text is part of the progression of accessibility for those with disabilities to be able to take part in the age of the internet.
So true. Sorry you got flagged. I didn’t know they were doing that.
It’s especially meaningful because a dear friend of mine has a son who plays WoW and has a stammering disorder.
Also, I have a new appreciation for the handicapped. Four years ago I broke my leg in several places. Two surgeries, two months in nothing but a wheelchair, and six months to learn to walk again.
I couldn’t believe what passed for handicapped bathrooms that I never payed attention to. The people who thought it was okay to park in those places and taking seats in a movie theater and even the ones next to them so my family could sit next to me. These are just a few of the issues!
Yep, a new appreciation for those that have to deal with, what I only experienced for two months, for their whole entire lives.
Maybe I am old but there isn’t enough energy in this world to become riled up over every injustice in this very big world.
Better to redirect that energy to improving yourself, helping friends, family and your local community.
Namaste.
Difference between riled up and just mentioning it.
But that is how it starts…the thoughts, the mentioning of it…then the call to action. Maybe if you are young and passionate that is your desire.
What I do know is that in the end you can not change other people but what you can do is elevate the people around you that you love and cherish.
Ehhhh if you squint kinda. Not everyone can type quickly. I know Discord / Voice Chat is a thing but not everyone uses that.
Helping out the physically handicapped IS part of social justice.
“You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.”
Oh boy, here we go!
“Social justice” is a buzzword that midwits use to justify online rage mobbing. Nice bait tho.
No, bait posting is trolling.
Neither excuses the other.
I agree - and after a few minutes realized I proved your point. Sorry, really. Should stay off the forum for a bit cuz I’m a bit snappy this week. Thank you for your kindness.
Remember kids
A social justice activist will make sure a ramp gets added so everyone can access a building
A social justice warrior will have the stairs removed to not offend anyone
Everyone agrees that wheelchair ramps are a good thing and the ADA was a good thing. But if that was the issue in today’s environment, there would be demands for wheelchair ramps leading up the steps of Icecrown so everyone had access. And at least 40 percent of the introduced characters would have to have a disability or else Blizzard is bigoted and equality has not been achieved.
Causes are good things, but that doesn’t make all tactics in “support” of those causes good things. That’s why social justice is now a term that makes reasonable people vomit.
God I hate how true that is
“if you use our definition of this ordinary term, it’s a bad thing!”
Except it’s not an ordinary term at all. You don’t use it in normal conversation, it only shows up under certain circumstances and is always widely used to unjustifiably hurt others.
Right, but check out who’s using that term. I rarely see the people fighting for social justice using the term “social justice” – it’s used almost exclusively by others to disparage them and their causes.
Probably couldn’t have said it better than this.
The phrase “social justice” and what it means in today’s society has nothing to do with actual social justice.
But TTS - that’s a good thing.
