Social Contract - What all does it cover?

That is peak hilarity coming from you.

Necro any two year old threads for giggles recently?

I love you long time.

You can’t handle me :upside_down_face:

Maybe to you, but I happen to know for a fact that most people find me to be rather eloquent, if unrestrained. I’m not a troll. I eat troll.

I eat just about everything, especially if they are Alliance. I am magnanimous like that.

I think you should just use Ignore like I do.
Those people only sour that bit of enjoyment I could have with the forum, and I strongly dislike them for that, and with good reason.
Goodbye to the good people here.

Thing is, people like that gain power by being ignored, because they’re taken at face value by new posters. It’s better to confront them regularly and make them take their mask off and show how disgenuine they are; like pretending to have read those threads I linked, which immediately backfired.

Object Lessons, I call it. I’m not trying to convince people like that. I’m reassuring other people that their meter readings are in fact correct. (silent readers, primarily, which is the bulk of forum activity; not posters)

Do political candidates debate one another to convince each other?

Okay, but the social contract is active right now. Enforcement is happening, right now. So it stands to reason that if your concerns of draconian rules being imposed to stifle roleplaying are valid, there would be examples of said enforcement taking place. So I repeat my question: are there any such examples?

Players aren’t allowed to discuss account actions on the forums, remember?
You’ve pointed it out yourself in the past.
Do you think the majority of reports of any kind are discussed on the forums?
what percentage of the playerbase do you think comes here at all, or even knows these exist?*
Are you entitled to everyone’s account action history so the Forum Regulars ™ can determine truth?

*hint: its very very low.

As a mighty undead my metabolism works differently. It allows me to eat what I please and still maintain my… ghoulish… figure.

Again, you haven’t read the threads. The realm forums aren’t GD. I’d encourage you to look through those threads, look at what my OP is saying, look at the linked post to my post in CS where a blue offered some clarification, and look at the conversations taking place. The realm forums have conversations, not mud slinging like we see in GD.

I see a lot of people talking themselves in circles over “concerns” but no proof that anything has changed as regards to roleplaying enforcement. In fact I saw one example of someone reported for RP behavior whose ticket got dismissed because they reviewed it and found nothing wrong.

I read the blue post too, where they said that they will still work to prevent toxic behavior in public channels, which makes perfect sense to me. If your RP is affecting the enjoyment of the game for people around you without their permission then you need to switch tracks. I also saw them say that reports on private interactions will be handled on a case by case basis for account action, including no action at all.

I see no evidence that anything has changed at all, which is as expected considering the social contract has no functional difference from the ToS that was already in effect.

Kinda like you calling everyone who disagrees with you a “whinger”, eh?
It’s funny how often I see that word “whinge” thrown around these days. It really, really spiked in usage back in 2017.

Reminds me of the classism behind “curse” vs “cuss”
Coopt-the-pomp, I say.

You got a problem with Goblin and Gnome RPers actually sticking to lore? Or do you think Christie Golden just…retconned all animosity by putting two of them together in Mechagon?

The thing is I’m not arguing that anything is changing or will change. I asked the blue about potential scenarios and how they could be reported, if at all, received responses, and then shared those with the community. The point of those threads is to make people aware of how enforcement could potentially impact RP and how to best conduct it (such as doing a scene in party chat vs /say). I purposely haven’t taken a stance because I don’t want my own opinions to impact the direction of the conversations. A few people have speculated about things changing, yes, but the conversations taking place have been about spreading awareness of the rules and encouraging change in behaviour so these rules that have been in place aren’t broken. That’s what the conversations are about.

Alright, sounds reasonable. I’m sorry I called your threads whingefests.

I still think the concerns are unfounded, and stand by the fact that the unnamed goblin rat was being disingenuous by claiming most of the concern conversations over the social contract were by roleplayers worried about their ability to play the game. Most of what I’ve seen has been people who didn’t bother to apply any reading comprehension to the contract (if they even read it at all) or even think past whatever political implications they automatically jumped to.

It’s no worry! completely understand why you would think that considering what GD has devolved to the past few weeks. I appreciate you taking the time to look through all that!

Eh, this place goes through cycles. Trolls will get bored of this subject soon and move on to the next.

Obvious troll aside, if you bring your personal life into a game, expect personal attacks. Is it reportable, sure. Will reporting it do anything, maybe. Are you asking for it by exposing something that absolute strangers have no need or desire to know, absolutely.

Keep personal / IRL things to IRL, and game things to the game. Just like if you go up to some random person IRL and tell them over an over that you are a level 60 orc warrior with 9001 item level and that you just obtained the “Sword of a Thousand Truths” - chances are they will be annoyed, not care, call you names, and generally tell you to pound sand. Maybe you’ll find someone who also plays the game and you can make a friend, but don’t count on it.

Why do you find it so hard to follow the Social Contract?
