Social aspect of this game is just dead

You can’t even chit chat and banter anymore or the dreaded warning appears.

One really weird thing about this game is how many people don’t want to be efficient and kill mobs together when it’s obvious you’re on the same quest. Is killing mobs only by yourself more ‘immersive’?

I used to always agree to group to both be polite and see if they were someone I would like to play with.

But now I have that box checked so I don’t even see the requests because the last three times I accepted in regular WoW, all in Durotar when I was playing a Horde character for the first time thru there, the other person just rushed thru the whole area like they were on fire and the final mob had the only water for miles and I had no chance to experience it (so I would drop the quest and re-do it again on my own.)

So yeah, it is more immersive for me to play by myself. It is also more relaxing, more exciting (yes, I find it exciting to explore the environments) and just plain more fun.

But when I forget to check the box to block the requests or Blizzard unchecks it on me for some reason, I still typically agree just to be polite, continue to play my own way and no longer bother to try to start a conversation.

Wow, talking about this is just making me miss Remix more. There I didn’t just agree to group for quests, I called out in chat when a mob was up or when I was going to conjure up one for the shan’ze stone quest, specifically to group.

Such a different ballgame.

That’s the only thing which prevents me playing a lot, now I just log in once a week :frowning:

you gotta be really social to keep at it forever.

in reality the people dont stick around or dont have the same intensity or take breaks and then you have to fill the missing spots, non-stop.

then you end up with the opposite problem, you covered the problems by being more social with more people and now some are bound to feel left out and vanish or start drama. vicious cycle.

lets be real, it gets old after a decade or so. might as well have a small clique and pug your way out of the lulls.

This is because Trade and General chat became the Goldshire of WoW channels, nobody but political trolls really uses it anymore, as well as folks of a more psychotic moral persuasion.

Occasionally a poor fellow will pop on to ask for a craft or to offer one that would have been better directed to trade services, but it’s mostly just trolls and worse now. (Which is why we got trade services, so we’d have an ACTUAL channel for crafting, runs, etc, So Trade is less “trade” and more “troll chat”.)

We had an active thread on this.

We didn’t need this necrod. Especially by someone hiding on a forum alt.

At this point, they to just beef up the game to allow one mega server.

Even classic. And if anything put mob spawn adjustments in the game like the Felwood elementals and Winterfall furbolgs. Or give all versions of the game shared ungrouped tagging from DF except PvP/WM

Sharding/layering is just awful design. I’d rather have rapid spawns or disappearing nodes/players/mobs not begging to get on different layer.

Same as we don’t need clowns who write comments with no benefits to the other people nor the topic, but they are still here so deal with it .:clown_face:

because this company can action your account for every little thing based on the vague social contract they made you sign, that’s why

Realm hopping killed everything social. I remember being proud of the server I was on and making friends with the people I saw every day.

Now joining a guild is like getting onto an elevator with 15 strangers. Hmm next time that happens I’m gonna yell DING! and see if anyone says grats…

Yeah the casual racism, homophobia, sexism and many other -isms people often say casually with one another is left to voice chat and discord as it should be. If you’re amongst friends you can still say more inappropriate things in party, whisper and guild.

It’s really not that hard to not get flagged lol. If it was then many, many more players would be perma’d by now. It’s a trust system as always. Even back before when Blizzard was more lax on reports.

In the past people in guilds had to log in to chat with their guild mates and see if people wanted to do things. Now people can chat in discord all day long without ever logging in and can organize things together much easier.

Of course the game is going to be less social when people have a much better alternative for socializing and they’ll just log in the game to play the game rather than socialize.

Your account doesnt get actioned per social contract.

it gets actioned per ToS / Rules.

Everyone loves to mock Moon Guard but at least we still have an active community. We talk in trade all day. We even use LFG for when we aren’t in a city. It’s the rest of you on all the other servers who have all run to discord and abandoned your server.

Sorry I have made friends in WoW that I want to keep in touch with outside of WoW.

I really like that idea. It makes me sad sometimes, running around the older zones, and there’s literally not a soul there. If I want to find people in Zul’Durak, or Redridge or Darkshore or wherever, you have to log onto Classic, because in retail all these places are just devoid of life. Would be awesome to see them repurposed in some way. And I like the idea of periodic (monthly) bonus quests or some other event in a random zone from older expansions.

It would be awesome to see them become relevant again somehow.
