i just ran a single old dungeon on heroic, and hellfire citadel on mythic. the dungeon gave 132 gold (not counting silver) and the raid gave 199 gold. just… wow. they nerfed it way, WAY too hard.
can someone explain to me why they did this? cause i don’t get it… they add these mounts to the game that cost several hundred-thousand gold (lookin at you BfA toads and lightforged warframe) then nerf one of the… well, not best ways of getting gold, but an ‘okay’ source of gold… y’know, if you don’t do professions/AH stuff.

okay, but what if i don’t like doing current content? should’nt i have the choice to run old stuff for gold instead?
besides, running old raids did’nt hurt anyone… if anything it gives a reason to keep on playing for a chance at the transmogs/mounts.
heck, even if they just cut the amount of gold in half, it would’nt have been as bad as it is now.

not sure that’s true. pretty sure they just made the current gains better than the old gains. so it was’nt really a nerf to old stuff, but a buff to new stuff.
So the nerf came as a byproduct of changing ilvls. Lower ilvl means items are worth less gold per sale.
…not that they adjusted the difficulty to make old raids easier but I’m just salty about legion still.

but… why did’nt they just make the reward for new stuff bigger then? it’s just… it’s just ridiculous. i did a single heroic MoP dungeon, and made almost as much gold as a mythic WoD raid!

You have the choice to run whatever content you want. The REWARDS for that content have always been up to them.
They nerfed it so you couldn’t make easy gold that way

Back before scaling it was so trivial to mow through old content and they thought it would disrupt the economy. I think this was before WoW tokens and callings trivialized gold.
They dont want old raids used as gold farms. It trivializes the gold farm

Old Raids are not meant to be gold farms. Expensive mounts are meant to be gold sinks more than anything else. They’re meant to suck gold from the people hoarding way too much, not to be something you work up to by… 1 shotting old content sometimes.

Callings are definitely a good source of gold, but they don’t actually give that much.
The trash from callings only sells for just under 2K. You might still be better off focusing on a crafting or gathering profession if you want to dedicate time to making gold.
It’s probably because you’re already getting cool xmogs and mounts from the raids, they figure why also give a ton of gold too? Idk honestly, I’m an old grandma.
To try, and curb those bot hackers that love farming old dungeons, and raids for gold would be one good reason for nerfing them.

Level squish made it harder to solo some stuff and nerfed gold gains. Not a fan of it tbh. They shouldnt do it again if they dont fix other problems.
