I don’t hate Survival. I just find the Hunter class boring.
I still enjoy it, but I liked Legion surv more.
I want to stand 40 yards away from the boss spamming 111111111111111111111
It be end of the season so I decided to just Range SV Hunter.
Nothing like Arcane Shot spam with Death Chakram, Serpent Sting and popping Explosive Shot, Wild Fire x2 and Dragon Fire Trinket, and Rocket Jump into the mix to Pistol Whipping (Fury of the Eagle) the baddies and Disengage back out and repeat with the occasional Kill Command for focus.

Lol it’s funny this would almost be viable if kill SHOT didn’t require a MELEE weapon for some dumb reason

Rexxar, the Beastmaster. Rexxar who fights with dual wielded melee weapons, not a two hander. Rexxar who explicitly hates things like bombs for the damage it does to the natural world and wild things. Rexxar who fights with a stable of animal companions, not just one.
How is survival based on him exactly?

Yep. But The long history of 2 handed hunter is not lore. It’s math.
If stuck in melee 2 handed capitalized on good crit hits, usually.
Personally I like my dual wield hunters in classic. Bow, daggers….looks so cool. To make retail liked….they could have used that bait.

I have 2 hunters i play and both survival. I cant go back to BM lol doesnt feel good.
It actually holds its own on trash mobs packs (so far in LFR and LFD). Though, as you said. Without Kill Shot… It is lacking, plus side though, it is extremely mobile, only use Steady Shot if I absolutely have to ensure little down time.
Feels very at home for goblin hunter, more so when Completely Safe Rockets trigger after bombs and explosives go off.
no one hates survival. They just barely exist. How can one hate something that doesn’t exist. There’s like 1000 of them in the entire game.

I agree, it’s probably the most fun I’ve had with a spec in recent years. And the damage is definitely there. I just wish we had more mitigation/self healing. They should at least double the cooldown reduction on focus spent for exhilaration and Survival of the fittest.

IMHO, Mend Pet should be called Mend and heal the pet the same, but the Hunter gets 25% of what is healed on to them.
Mending Bandages should be baseline and not a PvP talent and remove the being attacked cancel the heal, for it being 30% 6 seconds, that seems a bit over kill for the ability.
Maybe make the PvP Talent give a bigger incentive to warrant the cancel, like increases healing by an additional 15% if stationary.

I would still being maining SV Hunter if we got a different set for the season, having a gimped version of season one is killing it for me.
(still my favorite spec in the game though)
See I’ve heard about this but I never had the s3 set so I guess I don’t really have to deal with that. And I’m not really competing with any other survival hunters.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the hate is due to how it came about. Ranged survival was effectively deleted and it upset players who enjoyed it.
One thing that bugs me about melee survival is throwing bombs in melee range. That never felt right to me.
I do prefer melee specs (esp. ones that use 2h weapons), so my hunter is survival and I enjoy it well enough. That being said, I don’t blame anyone for being upset about melee survival.

This is it, people would be indifferent torwards it at worst if it was like glad stance warrior, just a talent that makes a few changes to the spec, or a 4th spec in general.
Legion has had permanent detrimintal effects on this class

I hate how their hook doesn’t reset on grey kills. Makes doing old content a pain.
I disliked it only because it should’ve been BM that was turned into the melee spec and the 2-handed only restriction. Just let me be like Rexxar, damnit.

SV reminds me alot of how Unholy DKs use to play. I really enjoy it. Though honestly Blizz probably should have changed the name when they altered the playstyle so drastically.
