Yeah. And people somehow are hung up on which of those is more likely. LOL.
Why Thrall? Sylvanas apparently knows something we don’t. She isn’t going to just take him out for no reason, so is he a threat to her? Why? He’s a peon now, has no faith in himself anymore, he’s already a beaten orc, so I’m clearly missing something.
Why was Saurfang all whiny and poo poo faced about the Horde? Are we supposed to draw obvious conclusions from this, in the realm of Thrall becoming Warchief or at least uniting the Horde again?
And why did Mel Gibson want to play Thrall so badly in the cinematic?
I really hate to be the one to tell you, but GRRM doesn’t write GoT. He writes Song of Ice and Fire which GoT is based on. They exhausted the book material at the end of season 5 and the rest has been seat-of-the-pants writing by D.B Weiss and David Benioff. Which is part of why it is so bad. GRRM only helped out with some episodes and has largely not been involved with the end.
Soooo… makes a lip-popping sound
Reaping souls?
Oh great now she’s stealing jobs from DKs.
This will not stand!!!
We’ve seen her gardens. They’re…ehrm…poppin’.
Thrall is an extremely popular figure within the Horde. He is almost unilaterally responsible for the inclusion (in the horde) and salvation of many of the major Horde races. Thrall also has a sense of honor that aligns with Saurfang and Baine, so if one is upset with something they likely all would be.
Now that Saurfang is trying to seek him out, he will learn of what the Horde has been up to back on Azeroth. Dissent is also growing within the Horde, so even if Saurfang fails to reach out to Thrall it is likely SOMEONE else would try. It is practically assured that Thrall will come back to challenge Sylvanas, just as he did with Garrosh.
Thrall is a major threat to Sylvanas’ rule.
Because Thrall refused to take her to the homecoming dance in favor of Aggra. So Sylvanas was stuck with Nathanos and no one likes him. So she decided “If I can’t have Thrall, NO ONE CAN HAVE THRALL!!!”
Sylvanas is literally comparable to Hitler but people still like her because shes hot.
Now you wonder why in real life how people can support genocide? Thats why maybe. People who commit genocide EVERYTIME are told they’re defending their people and those they love.
If you’re willing to casually support a hitler narrative, regardless of the fact villain fandom in the geek world is a thing, that trancends into the reality of the pyschology in Genocide. Why do humans kill other humans? Simply put there are strategies and common elements from those who do that.
We can see here that to sum up how someone can support a “Hitler”, they give them a free pass to commit the genocide because [insert reason more important to them about those doing the genocide].
To me all villains are objectively evil, that is why we call them villains and everyone throws around “grey morality” for characters they give that free pass to. You’re just giving a free pass to genocide because you like a person… Damn.
ugh huh
Contextualize the narrative of why the innocent people are dying so you have to ignore responsibility. It usually sums up to “they’re in the way” or to the other extreme that “there are no innocent people”. Change the narrative and argue in favor of it I see.
Just like fans of Sylvanas. Just own up to your hitler love.
“BUT SHES HOT… and SHES HOT!”
That’s how you make a martyr actually.

Just sending assassins out to kill him and only 2 of them seems like a weak, very weak attempt at best to kill him.
Just going off this alone makes me think they were more trackers than anything.
Two assassins wouldn’t be able to take out Thrall’s wife, Thrall or Saurfang. At most, they could try to take the children hostage for “negotiation” purposes, but they could never have hoped to take any of the other three out.
Maybe more of an independent decision made by the assassins to try and eliminate Thrall and/or Saurfang because an opportunity presented itself?
let’s see what happens if i use a “wayback machine” to fiddle with this SLIGHTLY:

Thrall is an extremely popular figure within the Horde. He is almost unilaterally responsible for the inclusion (in the horde) and salvation of many of the major Horde races. Thrall also has a sense of honor that aligns with Vol’jin and Baine, so if one is upset with something they likely all would be.
Now that Vol’jin is trying to seek him out, he will learn of what the Horde has been up to back on Azeroth. Dissent is also growing within the Horde, so even if Vol’jin fails to reach out to Thrall it is likely SOMEONE else would try. It is practically assured that Thrall will come back to challenge Garrosh, just as he did with Garrosh.
Thrall is a major threat to Garrosh’s rule.
i know right? o_o. it’s just sorta sad.
anyway… your very valid point proves just as much why she shouldn’t mess with him AT ALL.
Thrall WAS off the board. Saurfang seeking him out would put him ON the board. yes, that’s a threat to Syl. anyone can see that… the thing is: sending assassins, success, or FAILURE also puts Thrall on the board just like she’s supposed to not want.
a martyr is just as influential, if not more so than a living breathing leader. the living breathing guy can disappoint you, fail, and make mistakes… an inspirational DEAD GUY can’t mess things up in those ways.
killing him puts him on the board as a rallying cry “look what she did!! she killed THRALL??? are you kidding?!? RAWR!!” -_- TRYING to kill him does the exact same thing… and NOT killing him does too.
pretty much a no win situation. so keeping Saurfang from hooking up with Thrall in the first place should have been priority one. failing that, ENGAGING them both and removing ALL DOUBT about her intentions (if that is in fact where we are) does nothing but weaken her position regardless of the outcome.
(sorry if all that was covered elsewhere. and for playing with the quoted text without permission.)
Half the point of sending assassins would be so the death isn’t traced back to Sylvanas. Hard to be a rallying cry against Sylvanas if people don’t know Sylvanas did it, especially considering the fact that people here on these forums, who saw the assassination attempt take place, still don’t believe it.

Half the point of sending assassins would be so the death isn’t traced back to Sylvanas.
and yes of course. keep it quiet, no evidence…
but if that’s the case: sending two guys? two guys. maybe she’s just super duper confident in her assassins? who were of course totally ineffectual. but two? i’d have sent several teams of two… and the plot would have killed them anyway .cuz Thrall. cuz Saurfang.
but, with “what if the assassin’s win!” in mind, maybe the assassins were totally sure no one else was, or would be around anytime soon, or within sight? maybe they planned to axe Aggra and the kids to prevent the obvious call to Nagrand 911 that would have followed her return home? “GO’EL!!!” x10
but, the woman is a shaman… you know darn well she can make contact with the ancestors. “ancestral spirits! my husband lies dead!!! show me his final moments so i may wreak my righteous vengeance!!! blah blah…! rawr!” right? maybe she’d even get Thrall’s ticked off ghost on the line. “hey honey, how was grandma? oh! and it was some undead rogues. yep, they got me. varok too. can i get a rez?”
this is wow, not RL CSI, they wouldn’t be stuck hoping for dna, fiber evidence, etc is my point (as silly as i’m trying to be). we’ve done more with less. from merging with a night elf spirit in Azshara to see where she hid a special artifact… to an entire zone of cursed nelf ghosts that were very chatty.
how many times have we, within the story, spoken to spirits? a powerful, former shaman like Thrall couldn’t linger around Oshu’gun a little while to tell Aggra who done it?
anyway, knowing the writing as we do, we both know we’d have found out. Syl would probably just tell us… or the how would have been glossed over with a quest…“bring me 12 bees knees, some wierdo grass, and 10 piles of talbuk poo, and then draw a circle on the ground and chant with me: Go’elGo’elGo’el Go’elGo’elGo’el Go’elGo’elGo’el Go’elGo’el…” (it’s aggra after all)
either way, what happened in Nagrand would be very unlikely to stay in Nagrand.
Easy mode to get Thrall back.

The undead rogues didn’t have bones sticking out, I hope that means new customization options for them. I want to play undead so badly but the bones stick out through everything I’d be happy if clothes hid them.
It means they get to play the cinematic in China.
Thrall had that good guy Thanos living on a farm thing down. I totally expect him to go on a choas emerald/infinity stone hunt to snap Sylvanas into dust.
Cause Saurfang would get him to help fight her, and is a threat to her authority.
“Oh but he said no at first”, seriously without the assassins it wold just take 5 more minutes to convince him.
Does anyone actually think Sylvanas would have ANY problems with killing Thrall?
Sure, just dash my hopes. Been a lovely day irl too.
