So why did none of you tell me how fun Priest is?

So I’ve been eyeballing switching up mains in the next expansion. I enjoy Gen, he holds a special place in my heart, but I’ve been maining Gen since Cataclysm, and its about time his younger brother got a chance to step out of his brother’s shadow, the same way Gen’tarn got to work his way out from Krenk’s shadow all those years ago.

I’m being super casual with it, and only doing Delves with them, but I’m already able to solo Tier 11’s as a Disc Priest and Shadow, with the Hero Talents of Void Weaver, is just godly, even for the filthiest of casual players like myself.

Why did none of you tell me about this?

Holy Priest is fun too. A couple weeks ago I was in Arathi Basin, stuck defending the mine when a hunter and two of his friends attacked. The fight must have lasted two or three minutes with me self-healing and spamming /laugh all the way through. To add insult to injury I stopped to /bow and /thank them individually as the last seconds of the battleground ticked away. :innocent:

It both annoys and amuses me when people use Priests as an example of squishy cloth wearers that struggle hopelessly in solo delves. Priests are beasts solo for anyone who knows how to push their buttons. Have you been experimenting with Dominate Mind shenanigans? That’s endless entertainment right there.

Welcome to the fun! I Disc in M+, Holy in raid, and Shadow in open world or whenever I need to fill in as DPS. I started maining Priest in Shadowlands after maining Paladin since '05 and I’m still having a blast.

We thought you knew!

I tried when they reworked Disc way back when, but I always struggled with it because muh bhrahine, but once I got over the mental hump that doing damage was healing, and that Discipline Priests no longer were Shield Gods, it all kinda fell into place.

Still struggling with Balance Druids, Preservation Evokers and Mages of all stripes, but we’ll get there.

Now I want to know about Gentarn’s brother.

With classes I struggle with, I usually run some casual BGs. That forces me to learn what their skills are quickly. If I stick with PVE learning, I’m a lot more lazy because it’s less likely I’m going to die.

Also, crit chickens are fun.

I have a little priest that play from time to time. I’ve always enjoyed it, it’s always been fun.

And yes, do tell about Gentarn’s brother!

You didn’t ask?

If you want to run 5-man M+ content, hit me up. I haven’t been healed by a fellow Disc in years. We’re a bit rare (and yet the class is so fun).

preservation evoker is one of the biggest brain healers in the game next to disc priest, but it’s delightful once you figure it out tbh. not as fun for solo’ing stuff as disc, though.

Hey Gentarn, have you seen this meme yet (the paladin memes are even better!):

“I am the Disc Priest.

I log in. My cloth gear? Purely visual. My armour? Non-existent. I could be n ked and boss damage still wouldn’t kill me.

My UI is set up to show the two most important things — a damage meter and a cooldown tracker. The only healing spell on my bars is PW:S.

It’s not World of Warcraft. It’s World of Shieldcraft.

I sign up for a key. They take 3 seconds to invite me, so I decline and sign up for another. I know my worth. If it’s not instant, they don’t deserve me.

I’m summoned to a dungeon. “Who wants PI?” I type in chat with a smirk. The fire mage opens a trade window with 10k. The unholy dk posts a PI sim in party chat, so I add them to my ignore list.

The dungeon begins. The tank pulls several trash packs, so I use PW:S on them. My healing is done. The rest of this pull will be entirely damage gcds.

I’m not here to be a healer. I’m here to be a 4th dps.

An aoe goes off and the rogue dies. “Any heals??” they put in chat. I link crimson vial in response and then report them for hateful conduct.

The tank calls for pain suppression before the next pull, but they still have the shield from the previous pack so I ignore them. The mage doesn’t have combustion back up, so I’m 4th on dps. I make sure to share the damage meter in chat with a “lol” afterwards.

Mid-boss fight I tab out to check Wowhead. Blizzard has just announced disc priest’s weekly nerf. I use shadowfiend, then AFK to complain on the forums. When I tab back in, the rogue is dead, so I link cloak of shadows in party.

The dungeon ends, and the fire mage is top overall. They’ve been getting PI, so that makes me top damage by extension. “yw for carry” I type, then leave to AFK in Dornogal once more.

Interrupts done? 0.

CC done? 0.

I don’t play a healer to heal.

I play a healer to be a dps with 0 responsibility.

Because I’m the disc priest.

And I don’t heal pain. I suppress it.”

Priests should be hugging their shadow f[r]iends and telling them not to leave the house at night, or they might go missing like Water Elemental.
