So whose brilliant idea was purchaseable corruptions?

Grumble’s cookies can never be corrupted. They never go stale, and always, always make your milk cold. Miraculously no crumbs are ever left behind either. So magical.

AAAAGGGGHHHH! KILL IT! The purple thing is evil!

Yes. That is the true dark lord of all that is evil.

not playing the game no problem?

?

I can do plenty of other things. I can do M+, I can do random BGs, I can do Emissaries , I can do Assaults.

You feeling “obligated” is a you thing. It’s still nice to get a random reward, sure, but it’s not nice when there’s literally no way to target something you want. I’ll never understand people who want to remove methods of gear obtainment rather than add alternative methods.

You have to “work” for most other worthwhile items in game. Random world mobs don’t have a chance to say, drop a 475 Emberscale trinket from Mythic Wrathion – maybe they should?

Honestly that’s not that bad looking. I’ve seen worse.

There was some sweet cream bread that was supposed to look like happy faces… When cooked it looked like a writhing mass of souls.

No, it wasn’t. Because you can’t grind it. You just hope for the best.

But now, it’s there. You can see it. And you need to go get it.

I’m going to very hardly disagree that relying on RNG and multiple layers of it is not fun nor interesting just to get the best corruption for your spec, in fact you have no control over on what you get.

For me before the vendor I wanted versatile and nothing else but all I keep getting is leech, other stat increases from all sources, avoidance increase equal to your haste and other things I don’t want but I have ZERO control over what I get and hope I get one of those. Relying on pure RNG is not good, not fun nor interesting, especially when someone of your same class and spec is lucky than you because he had the corruption he wanted out of his cache and you still 2 months still not have gotten one.

Can you point at someone who had, for example, 7 haste proc items on high ilvl items before echoes came out?

The vendor completely ruined the corruption system. All that variety and all those possibilities turned into just a few builds for lucky classes and just one build for the majority of classes.

yea, and whereas before the vendor, if you didn’t get lucky, you didn’t have a hope in hades of being competitive, or worse, not being garbage.

the corruption system is crap. it’s simply less crap with the vendor.,

People who don’t like the vendor though, are 100% free to ignore it. you will still get your random corruption drops from all the places they came before.

The whole carrot thing doesn’t work on me. And being so close to the end…why bother. Was not a fan of corruption and getting cascade bombed.

I’d been happier if MOTHER had been a vendor at start.

I know it is a personal preference. Just like you wanting to be able to target them is a personal preference. People are allowed to have preferences different from you.

Corruption effects can account for 30% or more of your total damage. If getting those corruption effects was entirely left to chance, two players of equal skill and otherwise equal gear could have a 30% gulf between them in their damage outputs. Such a system is WILDLY unsatisfying and frustrating for everyone, except possibly the people lucky enough to receive the good corruptions.

Player power needs to ultimately correlate with player effort and ability. Purchasable corruption helps achieve that.

Yep, and the system we have now allows for both preferences to be acted on, no? That’s a good thing.

My point’s just that the OPs notion of not having these targeted purchases removes the realization of some preferences.

It’s like the WM on or off debate. If you like pvp, leave it on, if you don’t leave it off. If you want to play the pure RNG game, don’t buy corruptions with echoes.

What is interesting is that you are upset they are purchasable, but to do what you want would have been pretty much impossible via RNG.

No, actually it doesn’t allow both.

How’s that? Genuinely curious about an answer that is not just “other people can be stronger than me because I’m actively choosing not to do something”.

I explained it earlier. I don’t see the point in doing it again when this is old news and corruptions are going to be gone in a month or so.

Sometimes, two options can’t really exist in a situation and this is one of them.

So they’re a grindfest now? And not before?

And in this topic, a perfect example of why Blizzard will always lose.
