We’ll probably start seeing what comes next during shadowlands. There was some void stuff and faction conflict stuff sprinkled through legion. Then in BFA we’ve had a fair bit of stuff involving the dead and undead.
Could be shadowlands is our WoD and we’re going back to void stuff in 10.0. Or maybe we’ll see how life is encroaching on the realm of death and next we go to the emerald dream.

The next expansion is Murlocs Rising. Murky sees sees the power vacuum with the death of Ashjara and betrays King Mrgl-Mrgl. Murky leads an endless tide of murlocs to crash on Azeroth. These are the end times.

Actually, there’s a youtuber named Pyro or something, this guy pretty much had it nailed to the T. Before the leaks.
I don’t know where we might end up after SL, but I hope they take a new route. I would like to see a new, unknown nobody slowly grow in popularity (with other evil minds) and power, until they are a world threat. It just starts out as “well this person is disruptive, lets send a small force,” then that force is half destroyed, half turned to their way of thinking.
I’m tired of the obvious world/universe ending threats. I want something that seem like nothing, but eventually becomes a threat right there with Arthas.
I won’t be surprised if they just reset our characters to 50 every expansion, put the previous expansion in the same pool that the others are in, and have us do 51-60 again every two years.
10.0 is all about the Titans, and what they REALLY are…pure evil. The tiranny of Light. it’s a plot that not only was already set in motion thru Calia Menethil, but also has been hinted at since Legion.

Man, was I cheesed off when Jaina had more dialog than Nightelves with encounting Queen Azshara.
To be honest I thought there’d be an Old God Expansion, but alas they squeezed it into a patch. Perhaps down the lane they’ll show Azshara lost the blade and someone finds away to cause a chain reaction freeing all the Old Gods one by one? Anywho, I’d be very keen for an Old God Expansion as I find the Old Gods more enticing than the Void Lords themselves if I’m to be honest.
… But I suppose the domino effect of events & references throughout the expansion and more will guide us to the candle-lit path.

It will help keep the curve manageable and the content can all be run still via chromie or just burned through at max level
Yes i think Yrel will play a big part in the future as will the Void Lords. I think that we’ll get mixed up in a big showdown between the forces of light and void. Maybe throw in the titans or possibly a renewed legion threat as well. Some people have said that Elune may show herself also. Sounds like the future of Wow is gonna be exciting!
When we return from the Shadowlands, we learn that time passes differently in the afterlife.
When we return at the end of the expansion, we find out a thousand years have passed and the world is changed/destroyed/re-originated/whatever.

Instead of Ice Crown, we would get Slush Crown? Not going to wear that… just drip down the back of my neck. Nobody wants slush down the back of their neck.
