So when tinker?

Aug came in a patch and broke precedent.

tinker was a class in warcraft 3. and every single wow class except evoker is based on a warcraft hero unit. it makes sense.

low tier troll bait from brewa, as always.

If that’s your argument, we’d need a full gnome/gobin expansion for tinkers, not just the goblin patch we got, and the light/void expansions we’re getting.

Blizzard’s criteria for making new classes is a related, but separate topic.

Tinkers should be a thing, but I’m under no illusions that they will be a thing without either a philosophy shift on Blizzard’s end(which there’s always potential for considering their behavior after SL) or a post-Worldsoul expansion with the relevant theme(unlikely since anything that’s not elf/orc/human/troll rarely gets the main focus anyway).

Not really because it can also mean a devious person

Tinkers are dumb

Except demon hunters are actually cool and tinkers are an unappealing garbage-based aesthetic occupation wanted only by those who main goblins and gnomes. You are not the majority here.

Opinions are not nor will they ever be facts. Nor does your opinion reflect that of others. You may share similar tones but never the same.

And that reach there with your language is enough to even make Inspector Gadget blush.

something something goblin wants tinkers.
I don’t care.

i don’t think saying “i don’t want this to happen” is the same as “i don’t think this will happen”

First, this.

Second, this.

Third, we got Evokers in DF, and we don’t usually get new classes in back-to-back expansions. Traditionally, it went new race/new class/new race.

Fourth, the big thing for Midnight is Player Housing, so I don’t think we’re getting housing AND a new class.

I don’t think we’re gettin’ em, OP. DF gave a new race AND a new class, though, so who knows?

Hopefully never.

And look how that abomination worked out. Blizzard learned a hard lesson adding that class.

We need a tinker class tbh. Mail wearing most likely. Specialize in ray guns, robotics, traps similar to hunter.

Would be healer/dps/tank. Healer medic role with technology. DPS would have one gun or duel wield pistols with gadgets. And tank would be a mechsuit

The Tinkerer.

I like “The Engineer,” but because we have a profession by that name, I doubt they’d use it.

There’s already a profession that’s used to craft mostly gnomish and goblin technology with gnomes, in particular, getting a racial bonus to it. Both races have gone two decades without a class that takes said profession’s capabilities to their logical extreme, they can endure two more if it means we get more classes that actually fit the themes of their respective expacs.

It’s far and away too late to apply real world logic to a game that barely ever ran on it. A being who’s only 3-4 ft. tall being able to swing an axe that’s as long as them is far from of the most fantastical things in the setting.

If the only races it’s available to are ones that don’t even crack the top ten most popular, it will get more complaints than praise. The biggest complaints about DH and evoker involve their severely limited race options. The two most popular classes, paladin and druid, also get the most requests for new race options because they both currently have fewer than ten.

Worst case scenario, a tinker limited to two or four races ends up as unpopular as evokers, Blizzard sees this and the writers decide it’s not worth giving any more attention to gnomes and goblins, then the class’s lead dev also stops caring and lets it end up like evoker right now.

Aug isn’t an entire class. It was the missing piece of a class that was introduced at the start of the expansion, like the three before it. People who already had an evoker at max level when 10.1.5 launched didn’t need to switch characters and start over from square one to play it.

Exactly. To make a tinker class work, they would have to come up with a whole technology-focused expansion to share a theme with it, not shoehorn it into an expansion where it has no business being added, but I doubt that this community would be able to stomach such a thing with the recent complaints about the goblin patch being too goblin-y.

Yeah and 99% of the cool stuff Engineering makes is completely useless to use because they’re like recipes from old expansions.

Draenei are very technically oriented too. They have crystals-based technology. So are Orcs, orc engineers and explosives experts definitely exist in the game and lore. You could make the same case for Humans. Dwarves also. Undead used to love to create new ways of spreading the plague, using tech. Vulpera use their ingenuity to scavenge for parts, to hide from Sethrak, and to get water in their arid environment. Blood Elf engineers probably exist too, they had to find ways to harness and distribute the mana from the sunwell in order to provide for their addiction.

So what does that give us? Gnomes, Mecha-gnomes, Dwarf, Dark Iron Dwarf, Human, Draenei, and Lightforged Draenei. Goblins, Vulpera, Undead, Orc, Maghar Orc, and Blood Elf.

7 Alliance, 6 Horde. 13 possible races, not just 4.

So? Also, why does it have to be included in an appropriately themed patch at all? Just put it into the game, lol.
