When I think of a Hunter, and even more so one that chooses to use a spear, I think of someone trying to blend in with his surroundings, masking his scent to remain undetected, and quietly stalking his prey. For me, adding grenades and explosive shots into this equation is as wonky

but YOUR fantasy for the hunter class comes out of nowhere. it it has never been what you want. it has always been “guy who uses tools at his disposal” and, more often than not, that includes explosives.

I come to this conclusion in part because of the reality of the danger of explosives in close proximity

but the core of the problem isn’t me expecting realism, it’s that the explosions are a thematic conflict with the spear hunter with pet vibe.
