So.. when does shadow get to be competitve?

This thread reminds me of middle school.

Next Tuesday

Just comparing the data and looking at logs: the 8% AOE dps increase puts Shadow pretty close to DHs now. Ret is also going to slap kinda hard on Tuesday as well especially since they scale the best with the Lego.

having a fight in an argument in a forum be like… WTF man?! Seriously? What a waste of energy

Peace be upon you.

So its been a week with the 10k dps increase. Parsing above 50% yet?

Heh

Actually been doing keys on my Prot Paly with Shadow Priests this and last week and they’ve been clapping the DH and Rets.

Also, on the logs there’s a Shadow Priest in the top 10 for every dungeon now.

Uh oh, sounds like the roller coaster ride is not over just yet, time for gravity to pull Shadow back down again lol.

Can’t have pesky Shadow Priests being considered viable and dare I say “good” lol.

Can’t have community perception in favor of Shadow now can we? Haha.

On a more serious note, I am only half joking lol.

Shadow’s seen a massive uptick in popularity over the last week in M+ so I guess we’ve made some progress.

My comment was really just tongue in cheek lol.

We are the masochist class. So things seem off when we are not degraded and punished and tossed around like a rag doll lol.

I noticed this. I didnt look into his prior logs to see if he was holding his own before. I dont think an 8% overall buff was what was keeping him from being top 10 overall.

Ending of season shenanigans and all. Be interesting to see what happens next season though.

Shadow is fun. Been averaging about 150-160k overall for 17-18 keys at 355 ilvl. Been having to throttle back a little this week though :frowning:

Shadow wasn’t that far behind the other top contenders. +5% psychic link and the +10% buff to the other abilities is really all that was needed to move them up a few slots.

Group metas are starting to change around as well. Groups are starting to bring Mages over Augs and with a VDH you’re getting an extra +10% spell damage.

Havoc also got some nerfs and Ret Palys got buffs. A good Ret Paly with a Lego can beat a Havoc DH now.

Even then the biggest wall on high keys is just surviving stuff. You’re taking 1mil+ unmitigated blows from bosses on +30s.

To the surprise of nobody here. If the spec was a few small buffs away from meta, it definitely wasn’t non competitive prior.

Shadow’s basically almost at the same level it was before the god comp nerfs.

Shadow has followed a trend every patch of starting off weak, receiving buffs for raid performance that push it over the top in Mythic+, then receiving nerfs to rein it back in until the next patch, when the cycle starts anew. This cycle of buffs and nerfs means the spec has received a disproportionate amount of developer attention throughout the expansion and, despite being a poor choice for those raiding in top end guilds, has rarely stayed bad for all that long.

Welcome to Holy Priest.

Unmitigated? you can start taking 1mil+ at a
+20 in BRH from SB Volley
+23 in DHT from Apoc Nightmare
+23 in TotT from Shock Blast
+25 in AD from Soulrend

Many people will say that the problem is the 1 shot damage checks that need to be changed. While it is obviously a problem, I think in future seasons i’d rather be seeing mob healths increasing more quickly with keystone level. Hopefully we would see the dungeon TIMER becoming a problem before the one shots. Obviously this shouldn’t be done mid season, but I’d like to see M+ key damage modifiers capped, while seeing HP pools rise more quickly.

You had maybe 1-2 bosses that did big AOE hits in previous seasons, but with this season it’s almost every single dungeon. Healers complained healing was too hard so they toned the bosses down and just put big group AOE hits every 20-30s.

So right now there’s basically a wall at +28 for most keys and only the top push players can do +29s. And were only half-way through the season… so basically the next 2-3 months is just going to be staring at the same keys.

TLDR is keys are pretty much capped unless they nerf some dungeons.

Keys are 100% always capped no matter the tuning. That’s how infinite scaling works. If our damage, healing, and mitigation all scaled infinitely as well then it could be different, but they do not.

Keys do cap out, but with this season the M+ title cut off isn’t going to be any higher than last season. S2 was 3561… currently its 3512. With keys walled out at +28/29 for most pugs… I don’t see the title cutoff being any higher than 3560-3580.

Yes but usually we don’t reach that cap in the middle of the season barring extreme circumstances.
