I am extremely dissatisfied with shadow, haven’t run keys in weeks and only ran keys at all for a single vault slot this season because I don’t like the dungeon pool.
But speaking to the idea of me being the poster boy for what you’re talking about - I haven’t run a key with you as shadow, at least not with you on that character. I think current shadow is so bad that I have only played it when friends need me to DPS this season, so I only have 7 keys as shadow because I’ve been staying away from it as much as possible. But even if I had played with you, it’s laughable to propose that you remember me from one out of hundreds of runs, how I played, and that I specifically seemed like the type of player that reinforces your arguments.
Make no mistake - current shadow is terrible in many, many ways. So bad it stopped me from playing it unless my arm gets twisted. But viability at the +20/AOTC level is not one of places shadow is terrible.

Having people agree with your view on SPriest. You were hoping for an echo chamber to rally behind you and agree with you. Instead you got people who were quite easily able to disprove your claims and with evidence and proof to back it up, and all semblance of an actual discussion from you went out the window after that.
Can’t recall when the season started but can recall a singular person and their performance from 1 of his 300 keys he’s ran? Them there are steeled priorities!

I mean its kinda true. The way its designed, ppl aren’t gonna wanna play it unless it’s good. If it had a good game play loop than yea theres room for it to be mid with minimal complaints but that isnt the case. Its has a very dry gameplay loop and people only liked it because it was at the top of the meta(i called this btw).
i suppose some people’s memories that aren’t consumed with vaguely notable wow dates aren’t total trash? radical concept, i know!
I wish I had the ability to recall how good somebody I never played with is at the game. Clairvoyance sounds like a handy skill.
I’m happy to evangelize how much I dislike current shadow and why. I’ve done it all expansion when I get invested in the forums. I just try to do it in ways that are attacking its bad design.
I agree, but that’s not the premise of the thread. There is zero reason to play shadow unless you want to this season and we all know why - super mid damage and no utility, durability, or mobility to make the spec feel strong or dynamic outside of doing damage. But people are still playing shadow and it’s good enough in basically all content except for the highest keys.
That’s why the dichotomy is false - it’s not just good or it’s trash. It can be okay. It can be good in the game but trash to play and vice versa. In season 2 it was OP and felt amazing despite its design problems, then got nerfed into the ground for terrible reasons and still felt amazing despite its design and balance problems. Right now it is okay enough and feels like trash to play.

edit: and i’m not sure where the almighty 2400 m+ god is getting his info from, but i’ve run 120 keys on this toon. nowhere near the 300 wow’s living logbook for barely notable dates claims.
Because if I could top the meters in a timed +17 before any shadow buffs and with healer trinkets because, again, I have only been playing it when my arm is twisted, then I can definitely play it competitively at +20 level now after buffs, especially PL going from 15% to 25%.
But I don’t want to because I agree that it’s miserable to play and I really dislike the dungeon pool this season. Blizzard really couldn’t have done a better job of getting me to dislike my favorite part of the game this season.

No one is disagreeing that Shadow has it’s own set of problems. Sure. I can find problems with VDHs too and other meta specs if you’d like. That’s not what’s being argued here.

50/50. If it feels good to play but numbers are bad, some will play some will not. Vice versa, if it feels bad to play but the numbers are there (movement build for Havoc DH), people will play it, some will not.
One of the 5 main dates within a 2 year expansion you can’t remember because it’s “vaguely notable”, but remembering one random person out of the 1200 you’ve played with in the last few weeks who’s performance was mediocre at best makes your memory great? Lol yeah that makes sense.

nah, i’m a self-respecting type that has more productive to wish for than ‘echo chambers’ and slavishly commit to memory super important stuff like df season 2’s launch date. that’s just me though, man! we all have different priorities! some more productive than others!

Don’t forget how he’s reframing everything everybody else says. I’m a 2400 io god even though I never once implied such a lofty opinion of myself and haven’t ever pushed keys. It’s even funnier since I ostensibly agrees with him on everything except for viability, but he’s so invested in shadow being bad that he’s attacking me for saying it’s perfectly playable at his level.

i’m not attacking you at all. i’m stating what i experienced, and if you can’t accept that, then that’s on you and your shortcomings and your ego and now you’re emotionally wounded or something. not sure why you’re telling me shadow is perfectly viable for 20+ when evidently i know that better than you.
